Default Monitor suggestion for reading texts(A WHOLE LOT OF TEXT)

    Hi,

Would love some suggestions for a monitor for reading primarily text on the screen. My eye sight went down a lot, and I've troubles reading from PC screens nowadays, what would be a good monitor for mainly staring at the screen for reading PDFs? Would be really awesome if it is easy on the eyes.

    Thank you!

I think the main issue is glare? If so try to get a decent monitor with a VA panel as they seem to be easier to tone down the contrast/brightness. Might also look at some of the anti glare filters but some say it makes the picture less clear and that's going to defeat the purpose I guess.

Personally I can't stand reading on PC monitor. Whenever I need something digital to read, I import it to a mobile, any mobile and read it there.

Mazhar bhaiya bhalo asen, it's been such a long time.

I really don't know what causing me this, my eyes get irritated if I stare at the screen trying to read text. If it's gaming or anything fast paced, then it's fine. I'm using a Ben1 XL2411 @120Hz with a bit of calibration.

I know it's irritating and mobiles/tablets are better sometimes, but you can't really outmatch a PC screen for the real estate.

I'm good, glad to see you're still posting here after all these years. Have you tried looking at other screens to see if the problem persists? Are the texts fuzzy in yours or something?

I think you should buy an e-ink book reader kindle/nook. Those screens are do not stress the eyes as they can work without backlight.

Yes I still post from time to time. I still advocate forums for technical discussions rather than some other media. I really wish the old guys posted more, we'd have some good discussions and the old atmosphere back.

For my monitor issue: Yes, think you are exactly right. The text is a bit fuzzy, idk if this is a Windows issue/GPU drive or browser incorrect rendering. The text seems a bit hazy, and I do have these headaches when using other monitors too but not that much compared to my own. I checked my eyes with a doctor and they are fine, got prescribed for a new power, but the issue persists.

The thing is visuals, movies, pictures, gaming is fine. But I have to spend the majority of the time reading stuff and this is where I've all the problem.

I really want to spend doing these activities on a monitor which I was able to do even a few years back.

    Try this.

Set your refresh to 60 Hz and then try reading. If that doesn't help, try adjusting ClearType Text.

You know what, try adjusting ClearType Text first, just go to Start Menu and type “Adjust ClearType Text" and try fiddling with those settings first. Then try lowering the display settings to 60 Hz instead of your regular 144 Hz.

Tried 60Hz, ClearType calibrated to my liking. No go.

Now using 120Hz Strobed with Strobe Phase set to 000, this feels the best right now, but it's still annoying too look at text.

I think you need to spend on another monitor. There could be a chance that this monitor just doesn't suite your eyes for reading text off of it, it can happen. Try mucking around with the Windows' Scaling settings, set it to 125% and see what the results are like. Or we can discuss this in PM on FB, if you want.

I'll try the Windows Scaling and see if it fixes anything for me. And I'll message you, I think I need to get a 2nd monitor after all or sell this and move to an IPS.

I don't think selling this monitor off will be beneficial, I'd suggest you get yourself a 2nd monitor. But before reaching to a conclusion, please check how pleasant texts are on your eyes on another monitor first, if you find the results obtained through different scaling settings, that is.
