    Tom's Hardware has taken a look at the new hardware up from intel. Here are the details. Please explain what it means by 1 core, 2 cores, 3 cores and 4 cores.

    I don't get it.
    Why tdp is higher?
    7-13% ipc increase?
    Is it really? As turbo upto 3.9ghz.

    About the core, as u see 4/8, it means 4 physical cores 8 threads.

    TDP is primarily higher due to the much more powerful GPU. The CPU side should see a nice drop in power consumption.

    I would guess a 10% IPC coupled with 10% frequency uplift for desktop parts and a sizeable drop in power consumption for ULV and mobile parts

    They could also be easier to overclock.

    There have also been unconfirmed cases (photos and a video) showing overclocks of 7.1 GHz and 8 GHz on a 4770K. The voltages were about 2.26v.
