Default Need advice on buying PC

My father wanted to buy a "Hasee" computer that he saw in the laptop fair, the one which looked like a TV screen. I somehow persuaded him to raise the budget to 60000 so that I can buy a new desktop.

    Budget- 60000 tk
Note that gaming is not my first priority and I don't want the machine to play games with maximum graphics. If I can play the game smoothly despite poor graphics, I'm satisfied. Also, I tend to keep my computer running for weeks since I'm always downloading one thing or the other off torrents. I don't plan on buying a new HD since I don't want to lose my current data(it's a 80GB ATA hard disk, do current motherboards support this type?). Deduct peripherals from the list.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's a possibility that my father might change the budget to 40000(or, any amount below 50000). In that case, what should I buy?

I agree with xCross.I suggest the tr2 420 watt for the psu as the 750 watt throughpowers are fairly costly and get a cool goldenfield casing.

    Intel Q6600/Intel E8400 (preferably Q6600)
    4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM (Transcend or Twinmos)
Intel G31/G33 Chipset Motherboard (Gigabyte or ASUS)
    Radeon HD4650
    DVD RW
PSU and casing: Get a Delux casing, and use the PSU that comes with it. or get a Thermaltake litepower 400W and a casing of your choice

SSC exam na shesh? Or are you talking about next year's? For the system you described, your mobo is definitely overkill. Get a G31/G33 and spend the money on somewhere else, preferably GPU/LCD/UPS

i dont get it ....... u said u dont need dat much high end gaming pc and u will keep ur pc on for downloads ....... and yet u r spending so much on a high end desktop pc just for downloading stuffs ??? U said u dont need to play at maximum settings ...... yet u r still buyin one with which u can play at maximum settings ......

it is better u save some money as this will help ur dad ...... honestly speaking, these days it is not worth spendin so much on pc gaming rather than console ..... u can still buy it if ur dad has the money though coz hey dats ur choice ...... but if ur dad has financial problems even to a slightest extent, then i suggest u dont buy this so much high end pc as this is an overkill !!

if ur plan is watching movies (which i m guessing otherwise pc on rekhe torrent diye ki korba) ...... u better buy a normal pc but wid a hd lcd monitor ....... and for gaming purpose buy a xbox 360 later on ...... even pcs within range of 40,000 taka will be able to play all recent pc title very smoothly ....... plus u will save electricity costs over the years (which we ignore into our calculation) since u r plannin to keep pc always on .....

so even if u have money, i will still suggest for going wid xbox 360 and a very normal computer with hd decoding gpu and hd lcd monitor ....... dat way u can fully enjoy both gaming and movies at da same time .....

firstly, why UCC? you can save so much more by buying from somwehere else.

secondly, dont go for the xfx motherboard, or the graphics card. go for a gigabyte, msi or asus G33, P35 or P43 chipset, and a cheaper 512MB HD4850 for around 15k. stay away from nvidia chipset motherboards, they are usually bound to cause problems. even a G33 would suffice, and those two would save you 8000tk or so. spend that money on a better LCD.

the rest seem fine to me

Well, if I buy this PC I won't be buying another one in at least 6-7 years(assuming this one keeps working) even if it gets outdated. The prime reason why I'm buying a PC in the first place is that my current one can die out anytime.

I don't want to change the graphics card, I'll think about mobo. So if I cancel UCC, where should I go? I think someone recommended Smart technologies(right beside UCC).......

btw, ei mobo er price chara r kono problem ase?
