    Default Weirdness after installing 9600gt

    Hello,

i'm having this weird problem since i installed an ECS Geforce 9600GT Frontlines. Firstly the driver pack that came with the package didn't work. So i downloaded the latest version from the product site (ECS site= Ver-171.16) and it was installed. However, since then i could not fix the desktop display. it comes all blurry and faded. the letters seem smeared. However game graphic is just fine. even the flash based advertises look fine in the explorers but thats about it. I'm really lost here since this is my first Nvidia card on this system. My system spec is:

    Proc: P-4 Ht 2.8 90nm
    Mobo: Intel 915 GAV
    Ram: 512x2 400bus DDR
    PSU: Thermaltake TR2 500watt
    HDD: 120gb Sata maxtor 7200rpm
Sound: Creative SB X-Fi Platinum Champion Series Fatal1ty Edition

I have this idea that a proper display scheme might fix it although i'm not sure. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

this problem might not be with your driver.

are you using LCD ? if so then match the resolution with ur LCD

if the problem is not with resolution, and if it is just your texts,
then check the smooth text option somewhere in desktop properties

I'll try out a new driver now (Ver: 181.20) and will let you know the outcome.

Yes i am using an LCD. Benq Senseye 20incher (FP202W). Resolution is 1600 x1024.That is the maximum selected by nvidia settings. it doesnt go any higher and the smaller resolution doesn't fix it either. i had the similar display condition when i first installed the monitor with the built-in output but i was able to fix it after some inspection. this time the method doesn't seem to work.

coudn't find the smooth text option. my selected text is the minimum with 96dpi and 75hertz

your text smoothing is set to normal i think.
    change it to clear type.

display properties > appearance > effects > font smoothing
