For three long days the best players in all of Europe have competed in the Samsung Euro Championship for the highly acclaimed title of European Champion and a considerable amount of prize-money. So today not only CeBIT is ending, but the preparation for this year’s World Cyber Games season, the SEC. Germany was at least able to score four medals, with one of those in gold. This most valuable medal was secured thanks to sliver, German Need for Speed-Driver, while other world-class players like THE TACTICAL or Hero didn’t manage to shine as much as we’re used to from them in their respective disciplines Dead or Alive 4 and FIFA 2008. But still we’re grateful for the beat-em-up player’s efforts bringing in a bronze medal; another third place was achieved by PGR4-Driver Johnson. Things went a bit better for top-strategist Xeon, who managed to reach an intense final match with the British Apollo, which he lost but still walked away from with a silver medal in his hand.
The young up-and-coming WarCraft 3-Player XlorD unfortunately didn’t manage to breeze through the tournament as many had hoped; he was forced to accept a bitter 5th or rather 6th place. The CS-playing representatives from Team Alternate also missed their chance for a medal, finishing just behind the French Team emuLate, current WCG-Champions. But still it can be considered that all’s well that ends well and thanks to the solid team efforts from Germany, we’re still ranked third in the overall medal ranking and are looking towards the World Cyber Games Grand Finals in our own country with high hopes and even higher expectations.
