Seagate drives had high failure rate back in 2014. LINK

As of 2016, the failure rate has decreased substantially. LINK

Hope this clears up the confusion.

    This LINK should work.

HGST was first under IBM then Hitachi after that they were sold to Western Digital but they always made their own hard drives mostly for the server market still maintaining the IBM culture.

AFAIK HGST is not available in BD.

Seagate has always specialized in storage technologies (more so than Toshiba) so I always recommend this brand as well as Western Digital from personal experience. I'd like to add that I've used hard drives of the same capacity (1tb), bought at the same time and used for the same duration from both of these brands. They have been running great.
