some handy µtorrent features
Okay I found about some of great features that µtorrent has. So I thought I'll let you guys know this too Most are taken from official µtorrent faq.
Web Gui Interface
So you have your pc turned on and are downloading some torrents. With Web-Gui enabled you can control your torrents from other pcs !! (e.g. University). Or you can let someone see what torrents you are downloading!! e.g. check mine:
*Go to Options>Preference>Web-Gui
*check enable web gui. Give a user name and password (DONT LET ANYONE KNOW THIS !!!
*check Enable Guest account if you want to let people see your torrents. (Guests CANT change anything of your torrent. They can only see )
How to Access Web-Gui:
browse to the webui by composing your own webui url and type it in your browser:
For example: http://crushed.cjb.net:43039/gui/
This should work from the computer on which you run µtorrent and all other computers in the same (home/lan) network.
If you want to access your webui from the internet you will have to use the IP that the following site reports as yours instead of the local one:
If you have this option enabled your pc will turn into a tracker.
You can turn it on by enabling bt.enable_tracker in the Advanced section. It allows all torrents, external or not, to be tracked on it when enabled.
Once you have enabled it, you can use it by simply putting the tracker's URL into a torrent. The tracker URL is http://your.iport/announce
(port being µTorrent's incoming port).
e.g. my own tracker is http://crushed.cjb.net:43039/announce
you can know your port in Options>Preference>Connections.
you can find your ip in www.whatismyip.com
This is a simple text file that specifies IP ranges to block.
Each new IP or IP range must be placed on a new line.
Place it in %AppData%\uTorrent, and set ipfilter.enable to true in the Advanced. ( you'll find it in \\documents and settings\your user name\ )
To reload ipfilter.dat without restarting µTorrent (1.7+ only), view the Peers tab, right click, and select "Reload IPFilter."
