Well, I mostly buy game DVDs (pirated if you want it precise) after two or three months after it's initial release. Up until now it has served me well. But after I got a 5 disk itnext exclusive max payne 3 I just can't play it. The readme file contains like this :
~install essential softwares. e.g. Games For Windows Live redistributable, Social club version 184.108.40.206, .NET Framework 3.5 installer, .NET Framework 4.0 installer, Visual Studio '05, Visual Studio '08, Visual Studio '10
~install(extract actually) game from disk 1
~copy all files from crack to my documents in win xp, only documents in win vista and 7
~play from playmaxpayne3.exe
I've done everything required but the game simply doesn't launch. It prompts two windows. One is yellow and another is red entitled Alert. The alert one overlaps the yello one. After I click 'offline play' nothing happens. Any viable solution ?
Afternote : I saw steam_api.dll , steamclient.dll and skidrow.ini files in game directory.
#1 Does this mean I need steam installe to continue play ?
And I lent the DVDs to a friend 2 days ago after I copied the pre-installation files. I got back the disks today and he faced none problem. He is running Windows 7 ultimate SP1 x64.
#2 So is this a platform problem than since I run Windows 8 pro x86 ?
