    Default Need info about SmileBD?

I was looking to move to smilebd next month. Can the current smile users give me their feedback on a couple of things and it will be really appreciated and help me make my decision.

    1) Hows the speed throughout the day?
    2) Hows packet loss?
    3) Does ping get high during peak hours?
    4) Hows the european ping?
    5) What local speed can i expect from bronze package?

Hi im planning to get the 1Mbps Gold connection.
i live in dhanmondi 6/A. can anyone please tell me what is the average download speed i can expect.

i have spoken with the smile team and they informed id get around ~40kbps !!!! as far as theory goes im supposed to get 128kbps on dedicated however since its shared i can understand if they said something like ~ 80-90, BUT 40kbps is 31.25% of original DL speed!!!
    what are they talking about?
a friend of mine uses the 1mbps connection n he told be he get around 90 kbps. so.... now im totally confused..

id like some of the active users on SmileBD to inform me about the performance.

    thank you

lol i answered ur ques in torrentbd^^

anyway for u^ i use smile gold in lalmatia so i think we can relate. As far as i can say browsing speeds are not good on peak hours. But, you can expect 90-110KB/sec almost anytime on P2P/torrent even during peak hours. And if ur a avid local (BDIX) downloader u can expect 450KB/sec on gold.

this is exactly what a friend of mine living in the Farmgate area told me. but when i told that to the smile rep. he goes to me like "you must have got it wrong he must be using a 2mbps connection."

this guy has probably confused himself bout the download speeds between the 512 and 1mbps connection.

as long as i get a low ping to play multiplayer games on PS3 and my PC and also get 90-110 kbps on P2P download id be jumping! and id consider the BDIX as a ++bonus

@xKOZAKx bro since u n i are in the same region i think id be getting the same performance.. what do u think?

yeah u can expect similar performance if u take the connection directly from smile just like i did. Stay away from resellers as much as u can unless its the only thing available. Contact them through the numbers in here www.smile.com.bd to get direct connection.

I just spoke with one of the guys on the 24hrs help line. the guy goes to me like ul not get below 50 kbps and u can expect higher most of the time. But we always tell u lower coz we dont want to be blamed that we dint inform you of such a low speed would occur.

now thats one way of putting it but then again the simle rep. at the 5/A office told me id get "around 40" which is totally not right.

@mrdoom & @xKOZAKx did they tell you guys something similar??

i spoke with my sales rep Mr. Rafiq finally, i couldnt get hold of him earlier coz he was sick n dint come to the office so i was told to speak to this other guy who seemed to demotivating.. but now im convinced and giving SimleBD a shot..

Ive just got the gold 1mbps connection. the torrent speed is fairly ok i have monitored it for only 10 mins tho it went 100-118 range.. so im happy about that. now all i need is access to torrent sites for smile.

i do have 1mbps connection from BTCL aswell.. n when buffering movies at 360p on BTCL line it used to be a smooth experience but with smile even at 360p it constantly freezes but on 260p its great..

now all i need is to check out their ping unfortunately my gaming pc's UPS got fried 3 days back n i dont want my hardware to fail due to power surges. il be getting the UPS sorted out this Wednesday so il update u then.

    will update PS3 experience shortly..
