Default GPU for old and new generation

    hi ppl....

i need a budget gpu which should be within 15K.

    P4 3.6ghz (single core) 1.5GB DDR1 (480mhz 2.5 3 3 8)

want to game at 1440 X 900 as its my native resolution.

(ill upgrade my base in 3 months or so.... most probably core i7 but if price dosent fall i mi8 go for E8400)

if i go for HD 4850 how much it will be bottlenecked by the cpu ...

(pcie 1.1 slot bandwidth isnt a issue at all upto HD 4850.)

So wut are my options other than HD 4850????????

The other option(for new genaration) is hd4870 1gb/512mb.
@price performance 4850/4850 crossfire will be better.
You r using p4 3.2ghz @3.6ghz. What is your computer's motherboard model/chipset model. My old 9600gso ddr3 oc was bottlenecked by p4 [email protected] at 1024*768(Anik's previous rig who is the owner of the card). After upgrading to pentium dual core [email protected] every game is running very good(Anik is very happy). Even at 1440*900 res. Hd4850 will be bottlenecked much. As u r upgrading soon it's ok.
Lower cpu related option to medium or low in game setting and use AA and AF for better image quallity. 3.2ghz p4 can be overclocked 4ghz+ easily and it's now winter(temp should be below 70`c with stock coolar).

wait for january lot of 4850 ...... i have read in other parts of the forum dat its price will fall to around 10k to 11k ....... so wait for it ....... since its da best deal so far ........

and yeah ur p4 will be a bottleneck since majority games these days are optimized for dual core at least ....... but since u r upgrading few months later, this shudnt be a problem .......

i think i told you, it would depend on the game...heavily threaded games like supreme commander should be bottlenecked by your cpu, say restrain the gpu to around 65%...also assasins creed is also known to perform poorly in single core machines so keep that in mind as well

other than that, it should hover anywhere in the range of 70-80%

ami shunsi pawa jaabe ....... but 4850 still falls in ur 15000 budget today ........

n yeah all games r multicore these days ....... prince of persia readme file e lekha ase officially there is no support for single core processors and u will have undesirable effects ........ left 4 dead e video settings e option ase multicore rendering, which can turn off and on for multicore support ......... etc. etc.
