Both are same at stock clocks. If you want to overclock and have a Z77/Z68 motherboard and a good heatsink, get the 3770k.

Before we get down to a thorough discussion, how about you clear something for us too?

How much are you willing to spend on the motherboard which you are going to pair with this processor? And assuming you are willing to buy an overclock friendly motherboard, are you willing to spend on a aftermarket cooler as well?

You will definitely need an aftermarket cooler for the 3770k for oc.
I can tell you that you can use the bios to get a good overclock, just increase the clock frequency until BSOD occurs. Than decrease the clock to the last frequency where everything was running safely. That's how I did it. Oh and dont forget to increase the voltage a bit.

I still run mine on stock.

It's just ...so hard to actually find something that saturates it.

At stock clocks, there's absolutely zero difference in gaming between 3770K & the 3770, however, since you have chosen Gigabyte Sniper M3 as your motherboard, buying a 3770 would be a waste, consider buying the 3770K and an aftermarket cooler.

Let me explain it to ya.
People buy i7-3770K for overclocking. i7-3770 cannot be oced. Both processors perform the same at stock clocks. If you want more performance out of your processor get the i7-3770k, if you dont wanna oc go for i7-3770.
