Look for product with warranty ...preferably at list 1 year. In case of GPU buying ..use ati tray tools's artifact scanner on gpu memory and gpu processor individually... also try to stress test it with furmark. Mb 1st hand kenai valo... mela jhamela 2nd hand e. CPU rearly noshto hoi ..so checking warranty and the product itself is enough.

In case of 'No warranty' product:

*Processor - Most trusted device of a pc. Error free unless burned or error in gold contacts. I haven't seen any faulty processor yet except pin processor. Processor with good Speed in FSB, Cache, Newly introduced boost would be your choice.

*Motherboard - Thoroughly check back of the board the circuit part see if you spot any soldering. Don't take any repaired/soldered mobo. Motherboard that supports Sata III, Overclocking capability & stability (if u are an overclocker), More slot of ram, DVI, HDMI built in, 1600/1800 BUS of RAM support, will vary your choice.

*RAM - First check the 'GOLD CONTACTS' color. The last part of the RAM. Its should be shining as new. If the color is faded, don't take it. Because When the contacts got weaken it has been rubbed with Rubber to repair contacts. Also Check for BSOD error. Take ram with 1600/1800 BUS speed. Brand should be Transcend, Twinmos, A Data, Team, Silicon Power, Corsair etc etc.

*GPU - Stress test, Circuit board check for soldering, Temp test, BSOD test. Bandwidth speed, core clock speed, memory clock speed, Pixel/texel fill rate, DDR5/DDR3, Bit, ROP's, nm these should be compared with same architecture cards, not with other architecture. Take most suitable card for you.

*PSU - Check if the casing is factory intact. There should be a seal. If its broken dont take the PSU. I dont trust 2nd hand psu's. Its a great risk. Actually It depends on your cpu and gpu which psu you need to take. For a normal rig a 550w with single rail/multi rail branded psu is enough. TT, CM etc.

Suggestion - Look for warranty product.

overlord's 2nd hand buying manual is pro-level, repu added  i think he should open a particular thread for his manual.
i want to add some other things-

cpu- check the pins if pin processor, sometimes they are 'tera' or 'bhanga'. you cant use that if the pins have problems

mobo- ya, 2nd hand mobo kina risky, so kinar somoy ekta processor chalay test kora uchit. ar intel mobo hole twice/thrice check the pins.

gpu- follow overlords manual, but if you dont want to spend time then just open a game with high settings and load the gpu, then continuously check the temperature for 100% load.

psu 2nd hand kina oto risky na, but sealed!!!

ram- ram kono karone burn hoile kono ek ic er ekta terminal e kalo daag thake.. watch closely

Simple way. Go to cmd, type chkdsk C: (drive letter) like this. ekta ekta kore drive scan korben. scan shesh hole result ashbe. If the drive is ok it should display 0 KB in bad sector along with other results. HDD with 7200 rpm and 16/32 MB cache would be your choice. Install windows to check in properly.

Advanced way. There is some software HDD repair tools, nam mone nai, soft was from maxtor, egula diye check kora, onek shomoy lage. I never found it useful.

For GPU Play crysis/crysis 2 at highest possible settings for half n hour / 3Dmark 11 Xtreme test. There are Softs like FurMark to stress test. But i m sure 3D mark 11 and crysis would do the job fine.

For ram no particular software. When installing windows and running apps will give you bsod if ram's are faulty. General Program crash is also a sign of faulty ram.

What to look for when buying a used android mobile? Any software that detects dead pixel? I might buy a used Xperia P. Tired of using Symbian.

Well never buy any monitor without warranty.

If no warranty & untrusted source, Check if the monitor ever opened for repair, Test display for 15 minutes atleast, Open menu check contrast, brightness etc etc.

There is some way to test dead pixel. But i m not an expert to this part. And i dont bother to test it.

Use a white wallpaper to check dead pixel. And black too.
    Another day inside my world.
I'm married to you and this road.
A road that never let's me sleep.
There's no way to escape these demons I am forced to keep...

there is a particular group in Banglagamer who resells secondhand products bought from alibaba.com. They never have boxes or warranty papers. Whenever you ask them for boxes/warranty papers they will say "bought from abroad/lost the papers etc etc". So, dont buy those things.
