I'm more worried about the used-game blocking mechanism. I know I'd seriously consider not getting the consoles.

I don't know how they plan to implement this in Europe as they have laws that state that an item bought by an individual is his property and he can resell it or do what ever with it and that law applies to Games/Software as well. There is currently a lawsuit against Steam in UK. Its states that a steam user should be given access to resell his/her game.

I think it just shows how much greedy the game industry has become. You don't see other entertainment industry like music or movies implement such peculiar blocking mechanism. Imagine you bough a movie dvd or blu ray and lets say after 5 years you decide to give it to someone else (not sell). but wait, you can't do that because it has used-movie blocking mechanism, same goes for music as well.

Seeing all these I think there is another video game crash coming like in the 80's.

A lot depends on that case actually. If Valve loses then there might be a fighting chance for this as well.

Valve should lose that case. Not buying any consoles if this used game blocking ¤¤¤¤ is in place. Also, I always promoted buying of original games if you have the money. But, if used game blocking is in place, I think these consoles should be modded the day they launch them and all games on them should be pirated and that is a high probability since console ban might be lifted from mainland china after 11-12 years now.

Ok, here i go, I was waiting for this . At the back of every disc there is written- Unauthorised copying, rental, pay for play, blah blah blah is strictly prohibited, so as you buy the thing you accept their term whether you read/understand or not. Contract law portasi to, aktu paknaki korlam r ki.

But akta sotto kotha, what if you had a console/game industry. Wouldn't you want everyone to buy an original disc instead of the pirated/used one? It may get expensive for us BDs but does those gaming industries even know we exist? I don't see anything unfair here.

Used game sales are not illegal, and it's not covered in the game ToS either. The game's online service is though because technically, they sold you the license to the access online, not whoever you sell it to. But current gen doesn't have the mechanism in place to lock out online play.

A lot rests on the Valve case though, Valve is digital and might get off using the license to access argument but physical discs are another thing. They can write whatever they want in their ToS, as long as EU Law states otherwise, it doesn't matter.

Valve will lose that case. It is just a matter of time.

In that time, they will try to find a work around (like games requiring buying access to online servers to play most of the content while basic game offering something bullshit to get around the law).
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.

Regarding the name, its not my thought, its just one of the rumors flying around the gaming sites and regarding piracy I am not saying someone should copy games and play it. But why should second hand genuine games(used) be blocked? It does not make any sense as no other consumer entertainment product does that.

I agree, as we all have the right to share. After all sharing is caring.

Instead of becoming 'User Friendly' gaming industry is becoming 'Publisher Friendly' day by day & that 'always online' will do them more harm than good......& most horrofying thing is if they are able to successfully impliment 'always online' & 'No used copy' policy in next gen consoles there will be hardly any AAA titles that will be released on PC.. :/
