Default 3.68 ram usable on 64 bit windows 7 ultimate

    I recently bought my pc.
    configuration : i5 3470
    mobo : Asus p8b75-m
    ram : transend 4gb ddr3 1600mhz
no graphics card is installed yet.

i am using windows 7 ultimate 64bit operating system. In the system properties it is showing that only 3.68 gb is usable of 4gb ram.
and in the WEI it is showing that my ram rating is only 5.9. why it is too low ?
my mobo supports max 32gb ram. and it has 4 slots.
i have changed the ram slots, but same result. its 3.68gb usable and after rerunning the assessment of WEI its again 5.9.
is my igpu is eating my remaining ram ? if so how to fix ?

.in bios i saw the ram frequency is set to 1600mhz

Shared memory is going towards the IGP and the Ethernet buffer, and no, there's not a thing you can do about it till you install an actual GPU of some sorts.

    thanks for the reply. after installing a gpu like hd7770 or gtx 660;
how can i get back the remaining ram ? what are the modifications that i have to do on bios settings?
and after having a good gpu, any chance of getting better rating for ram on WEI ?
and my mobo comes with a feature called Lucid logics virtue mvp. it says " it can boost your discrete graphics card up to 60% beyond its original performance."
    is it true ?

Yes, several mobos provide lucid technology which improves the discrete graphics's performance.

you info are somewhat wrong and in some part right . .like asrock z77 pro3 has lucid but it dont have support in sli setup. It only has cf support dont know why. .but this are sure that lucid helps to improve igpu and external gpu support at time and improves converting video with converters as well but in games they dont have any performance boost

lucid virtue is basically a form of virtualization that enables iGPU and dGPU to work at the same time (e.g. you can watch a movie in one window on the iGPU and play game in another using dGPU). it doesn't boost dGPU performance, indeed can have negative impact on game performance(although not more than 2-4%).....

if you read the whole article then i guess you also noticed that this lucid works if a game supports it, like they showed bf3 has improvement with lucid but at the same time dirt2,skyrim,metro 2033 fails. So the conclusion of this story is lucid works only some marked games unless there is no improvement and some cases it will drop your fps

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...rk,3174-9.html

but the reality is, it doesn't increase a single fps. with VVS & HF turned ON
the FPS value is almost meaningless as it counts the frames that are not rendered. Virtual V-Sync and HyperFormance are both tools that decide whether a frame should be rendered and then delivered to the display. However the FPS counter within a title counts frame calls, not completed frames. So as the software intercepts a call, the frame rate counter is increased, whether the frame is rendered or not. This could lead to many unrendered frames, and an artificially high FPS number, when in reality the software is merely optimizing the sequence of rendering tasks(reduce tearing) rather than increasing FPS.
if you wanna know details about its working
    procedures follow the this link....
