Default Help me choose a cellular tab: Asus Google Nexus 7 or Lenovo Ideapad A-2107A

Hi, for a long time I have been posting about buying phones and tabs, but never really got one. But now, I finally managed the cash. I am focused on buying a cellular tab. Here is why:

    1. Always on the go:
I am always travelling. I am even typing this from my phone while on the go.

    2. Protect USB port:
Like I mentioned above, since I move around a lot, wifi is no help to me. However I will use wifi at university. If I buy a tab that supports 3G modem, I will connect and discount it so much, I will exhaust the micro USB connecting port.

    4. Why tab, not cellphone or laptop:
The laptop would just be expensive and serve me no good. Becoz I will need something to mostly browse. Android is a better option. Cellphone would be too small since I will type a lot.

    My choices:
    1. Lenovo Ideapad A-2107A:
Its got AMLogic Cortex A9 dual core. Got dual sim dual standy 3G, Edge support and voice calling and most importantly is ICS. However don't know it would be very good.

    2. Asus Google Nexus 7:
Built by Asus, designed by Google and powered by Nvidia Tegra 3, the best cellular tab money can buy. I know it would be worth the premium I have to pay for it. However, I am concerned about apps. I think I will face issues trying to use illegal apps.

So is there Nexus 7 users here? Need some user reviews. Lot of people sold there Nexus 7 just a few months after buying.

If you are talking about Iftekar Rafsan, then he sold it because he is getting a 32GB one. There is another reason behind it, but that's irrelevant. If you root it, you can pretty much run all pirated apps on it.

EDIT: If you are too worried that google has some kind of protection on it, install a custom ROM. There are tons out there including CyanogenMod.

No not his. Other guy. He was looking for display replacement for it and asking for help with shattered screen. So I wudnt have taken his anyway. So rooting solves protection problem? I also heard rooting doesn't change the security function. Not only that, I am a complete noob. So I don't want to root unless I have to. If rooting does make it ok, I will take it asap.

Nexus 7 users please also give feedback about ur experince using the device. No cellular users can also help me out.

Android is android, you don't even need a rooted device to use cracked apps, some apps require root whether paid or not. As for the security, I haven't heard of any but if there is any, I'm sure there is a work around. Why bother, Cyanogenmod is better than stock ROMs anyhow. You will want to flash to that, much more flexible.

I know that. I use a Qubee modem on a laptop. Connected and disconnected it so much, the USB port is now loose and the modem disconnects when there is simple movement or jerk. Don't want the same happening to a tab, therefore I decided to go for built in 3G.

I think I found a solution for my problem. GG7 got a new toy for people: http://gadgetgang7.com/index.php/fea...huawei-3g-mifi

Its a 3G mi-fi. You put in a 3G or regular sim and it transfers the connection over wi-fi. It charges and you carry it around. I think it will be better when 3G comes to BD.

@aayman @[email protected] - can you tell me whether it will be worth buying this? This is my plan: When I am at home and traveling I will use this. I won't use it at university since there is wi fi zone at campus. Is it good for using on the go?

you can use pirated apps on non rooted devices. I used it on my galaxy s3 before rooting. Nexus 7 is no exception. In android it is way easier to use pirated apps no matter which device you use.

by the way if you buy nexus 7 cellular version, then you dont need a separate device for creating wifi hotspot.

I can get the 8GB non cellular version at 25k or less and use this modem on the go in car. Good idea or bad?
