Default HD 7950 May Give Higher Framerates, but GTX 660 Ti Still Smoother: Report

The best Radeon does is in Sleeping Dogs but even then the 660ti remains more constant albeit slightly higher latency.

Achha amd er kichhu card e ami agey ekta problem dekhsi, that is there is some sort of a stutter (if i can call that).for instance one of my friends had an xfx 4890,or card tai dekhtam onek game ei kemon jani ektu stutter kore (jemon sli setup gulai kemon jani ekta frame skip er moto feel thake, I've seen very few though...),fraps die toh onekkk frame dekhaito, for example or tai FIFA smooth cholto na but frame ekdom full ashto.FIFA few years back put an option in the config selection as 'amd micro stutter' resolver,4890 two years back was a very good card but even that didn't feel smooth.ashole oneker chokhe ei jinishgula ekdom e pore na.but I'm kinda nitpicky with these, hope i don't face this micro stutter thingy in FIFA coz that is the game i play the whole year!!

lol you just confirmed that review really. You see those stutters when the frame latency spikes up then down again. More easily noticeable in multi-GPU setup, but tokhon dekhte parle single setup eo dekhte parba, cause the difference isn't that much.

AMD lacks a native triple buffering option for Direct3D based games, the stuttering happens mostly with games that require vsync to be on by default, like Fifa, but the AMD driver team is made by a bunch of morons and they've been ignoring this despite there are plenty of solid proofs of forced triple buffer through third party software improving performance while vsync is on, and drastically reducing stutters.

yeah me too chose 7950 instead of 660ti when i looked at the bandwidths. I just need one thing, ONLY ONE THING - regular and effective hassle free driver updates till hd 9k/ gtx 8xx series.

In raw performance it really doesn't. And the article is very new, there's no way I could've known this beforehand

Those benches are with Vsync off, that makes things even worse lol.

I'm glad that tech journalists are focusing on this and driver enhancements though, it'll force AMD and Nvidia to up their game.

This kind of test alone can be True representative to evaluate gpu performance.Unfortunately 99.99% of the review do not provide fps consistency chart like this. This is why u hear ppl saying this game doesnt feel smooth to the eye with a particular gpu.

192 bit Memory Bandwidth is quite decent for 1920x1080. Unless you plan on doing a Multi-monitor setup . And 660Ti has a VRAM of 2 GB if I recall. That too is quite good enough for now. But won't be for long I suppose.

Micro stuttering and "choppy framerate a la plain stuttering" are two different problems, and while complaining not one of you could clarify that you did a clean install of the drivers, so that is a different scenario.

HardOCP has claimed the same thing multiple times in their multi-GPU reviews, but the problem is that they never provided any form of charts or visual representation. And as usual, most people won't even read the text and claim superiority just by the charts alone.

This is the first time microstuttering proof has been shown for single GPU. And now that it has been proven to be there, hopefully more tech journalist sites will review these and force GPU makers hands to improve these things. Nothing's going to happen unless the potential to drastically affect sales is shown, and review sites hold that power.
