Valve will release PC/console next year
Not sure news ta age dewa hoise kina .... looks like massive console war is coming
Valve boss Gabe Newell has announced this week that the company will be launching a console built for the living room next year.
After months and months of rumours, and months and months of denial, it turns out that Valve will actually be releasing a console. Speaking with Kotaku
, Valve Corporation boss Gabe Newell said that the “Big Picture” UI was just the start, and that it would be leading into new territory for the firm.
“I think in general that most customers and most developers are gonna find that [the PC is] a better environment for them,
” said Newell. “Cause they won’t have to split the world into thinking about ‘why are my friends in the living room, why are my video sources in the living room different from everyone else?’ So in a sense we hopefully are gonna unify those environments. We’ll do it but we also think other people will as well.”
He goes on to say:
“Well certainly our hardware will be a very controlled environment. If you want more flexibility, you can always buy a more general purpose PC. For people who want a more turnkey solution, that’s what some people are really gonna want for their living room. The nice thing about a PC is a lot of different people can try out different solutions, and customers can find the ones that work best for them.”
and i am going to build a new small form factor pc next year. i already have built one for home theater purpose. now another.
Rumors are this is going to be Linux based. Don't see it working out. Valve alone cannot push other developers to invest in Linux. As great as they are, they are still only a part of the games industry. If EA, Activision-Blizzard, and Ubisoft pledged support then we'd really see things going.
