    Default GTX 580 RMA issue

    my not soo old GTX 580 started to show severe artifacts in DX 11 titles like maxpayne 3 and medal of honour warfighter . it doesnt show artifacts in older games and some new games like most wanted 2 or ghost recon future soldier etc. Only in power demanding dx 11 titles. i made sure its not the driver or software but the gpu itself causing this weird artifacts. i checked the card in at least 3 pcs . with three different PSU. now i sent the card for rma but wondering how would they test it ? will they send it back saying its ok because in generel computing or dx9c games like cod or nfs series, it plays fine. and even though if they grant it for replacement which they should, what would be the replacement gpu ? another 580 or maybe more exotic 6** !! please share your thoughts with me and let me know if there is any easy way to convince them that the gpu is actually failing and already lost the ability to draw graphic correctly.

    If you told them exact details of the problem then that is how they should test it, if they deny anything, download Heaven Benchmark and take it with you there and test it.

    You should get another 580 if there is stock, if not then you might be given an upgrade option where you provide some cash to upgrade to GTX670.

    thankz i appreciate the suggestion. i already sent it to them for RMA . i however took some screenshot just in case they want to see. problem is this card plays most of the games without any issue but only the latest advance titles. so i would ask them to check exactly those games where it shows the artifacts. considering i may get a 670 ... how much would i have to add, any idea bro ? .. once again thankz alot for your suggestion @aayman

    I think you'll have to add around 5K to 10K fo an upgrade to GTX 670 depending on the brand.

    Where'd you buy the GTX 580 from? If it's UCC, you'll be needing some luck as they use GTA to stress graphics cards for artifacts -__-

    It was bought from ONIX, IDB . And on the invoice, it is written they provide 2 years warranty for graphic card. So i contacted with ONIX and they sent me to smart tech , since they are the authorised dealer of gigabyte products in bangladesh. So i went to Smart and have this horrible experience , they refused to proceed with RMA and said, they only provide one year warranty . So i called back to onix, and the guy talked with the employee of smart tech and none of them could give me any legitimate answer on whether i will get a replacement or not. Instead the Smart tech kept my card , gave me tag number and said, they will take a look, but if there is any repair or service required, i have to pay them the charge !!! I called back to ONIX, saying i deserve the warranty and proper RMA since i was told i would get 2 years warranty and it just been 14 months after the card started to act abnormal. But yet they cant tell me what to do,and asking me to contact smart tech who already told us , i dont have warranty for this card !!! Now what sort of action i can take against ONIX ? i contacted with gigabyte, but they too are not willing to support it proper order, instead asked me to claim my warranty and RMA to ONIX !! im extremely disappoint and shocked seeing this betrayal and frauding by onix and my hard earned 40k money is completely wasted. Has anyone have anything to share and help me by suggesting some idea ?

    If they have written 2 years warranty on the receipt, you can try taking legal actions.

    DO NOT PAY any money to anyone. If somebody had to pay for warranty, its onix. If they deny it you can go straight to the board of IDB(I think they have one) and explain the situation. They will take action against the responsible party. Even if you are eligible for seeking legal action now, I suggest you do contact onix(and tell them if they deny you will go to the board/take legal action) and the board first.

    Thank you very much. Now i know there one more option to fight this . My pc is lynfield i7 which requires a discrete graphics card to operate so i had to borrow a card from a friend today im suppose to call smart and then suppose to inform onix. But im pretty sure they are not giving this any priority at all. Will update what follow next. And please let all your friends know, that both smart and ONIX are no where near of what call customer support.

    the hard fact is, Smart is following exactly the same rule as UCC when it comes to warranty. Globaal did the same but i have some personal link with Globaal's warranty section so that wont be a problem. In general, Computer Source is the best now to provide warranty services.

    Many people had issues with UCC and Globaal, smart and onix doing the same is kinda unusual. Btw, as @eXsTatik said, you don't need do pay for a 670 as replacement, if it was a 570 then giving 4/5k would seem ok.

    GTA Vice City I think, the UCC folks don't have enough brains to figure out how to crack GTA IV.

    A cracked copy means a pre-installed copy, and half the times games such as these which are pre installed that're made available locally in dvds are often like a hit or miss thing, it might work for some, while it may not work for others.

    A tip for the opening poster: if you still have the possession of the card, make sure to take photos of your graphics card, from both front and back with the highest resolution/quality and lighting as possible before claiming RMA again, I've come across a few cases where after a vendor who weren't able to back their promised warranty, sabotaged the product itself by physically damaging it to make it look like it was the consumer's fault to begin with and declined RMA claims, so be careful!

    Discrimination I guess, like Hemlock once said, UCC treats it's elite customers differently, I guess the same can be said about the rest of the shops as well.

    Logically you are right, but after contacting with Gigabyte and looking arround their forum, it is clear that they dont charge for replacement and mostly they replace with 670 and i know it may sound funny some guys got lucky and got 680 for replacement , however thats rare and of course not in BD .
    I dont mind even if they give me a 660ti , or i neither i dont mind if they give me 670 wheres i pay 5k or something . But i just hope they keep their word and support me any possible way they can do.i will update what i get in return.... thankz all for co operating. You are bunch of wonderful guys

    Reznov bhai, thankz for making it more clear. I really appreciate your suggestion , of the actions that are to be taken if i dont get a proper RMA from ONIX. Thank you .
