Quality boltey ki bujhaisen? 8000tk - 10000tk r flimsy plastic er asey. Abar upor er range 80k or more o asey. Most of them ar chinki chu kintu kisu American o asey.

Beshi daami gula electric. U will need a electrical socket output near where u put the cycle.
Ar na holey magnetic gula dekhen. Magnetic boltey jegula body motion e electricity generate korey. I have a magnetic one - chinese made - cost me 18k 1.5 yrs ago. Great build, cool style and sturdy. Also has wheels on them for easy moving. Panel is large enough, gives indication of speed, time, cal burn, heart rate. The panel runs on 2 pencil batteries. Once the batts run out, the panel dies, so goes all your accumulated readings. My cycle's panel was probably tortured by our cleaner once - so heart rate it shows is ridiculous - 195, even when I am not cycling. The cycle I have is upright seat, not recumbent.

U commute from MDpur to Mohakhali on a bike? U got balls! Not to mention ur deo cost. <I mean I used to walk to office when I was abroad - 3km frm the rail - and I had to keep a spare deo in my back-pack>.
    What is your bike model?
What protective gear u got? Helmet? Guards?

I had a real bicycle and would use it to travel short to medium distances until one day some crack-w.h.ores son nearly rode over me on his Premio. I jumped to safety, but the bike got frame got bent. Mom was furious and that ended that era.

FYI: FOR ALL BIKERS - there was a research done that I read a month ago that claimed too much biking may reduce a guy's virility. Not conclusive though.

U have 2 go and sit in them and ride them for a min or so if possible to find out which suits u the best. Generally, the 'helan-dewa' ones stress the rider's hips, so the conventional bike seats are better. Try 2 stay within 20k and look for magnetics as failures with electrical ones are hard to repair. When u buy, make sure u chalk out the complete details of delivery - time, cost if any, etc.

Go to Tejgaon and Gulshan 2 - as these places have bikes on display and will let u use them or touch them.

About commuting, let me give you some stats

    Before biking
    1. Time required to get to office starting around 7.30-8.00 AM was around 1hr - 1hr 30min
    2. Time required to get back home around 6.00 PM was around 2hr - 2hr 30min
    3. Fare was average 30-250tk depending on transport both ways. In 6 months from Nov,11 to Apr,12 before I got the bike total was around 9,000tk. this includes all transport cost. not only office, everywhere.
    4. I had to get up before 7 AM to avoid rush hour.

    Now:
    1. Time required to get to office 16 min - 25 min
    2. Time required to get back home 20min - 40min
    3. Fare is none. I calculated that I spent 1,700tk in the last six month May,12 to Oct,12 that I am biking. and I do go everywhere in my bike now a days.
    4. Today I got out around 8.20AM and still made it office in 25 minutes. Before 9 AM

I usually carry extra clothes with me. And if i go on a long ride before office, I usually take a shower before starting work.
I usually wear a helmet and thinking about getting gloves.

I was once hit from behind by a Corolla and strained my left ankle. I could not walk for 2 weeks. Nothing happened to the bike. One broken spoke. thats all.
We have a saying "When you are cycling everyone around you is crazy and they are trying to kill you". Being alert and following the rules and common sense like wearing a helmet is enough to ensure safety. But this is Bangladesh, so there are idiots behind the wheels.

About the last part dont really know. but I dont think that applies if you ride a bike 1-2hrs a day. there are racers that practice more than 10hrs a day.

About price. there are bikes like the TREK 6700 is available IN BD which cost over 1.5 lakh. There is a American guy who lives in BD named Ken he rides a Santa Cruz nomad 2011. Which has a sell price around 2,500-4,000 USD. Before you say that nuts, he went to Nepal and biked around the mountains.
