SAMSUNG DVD writer - Longevity?
My SAMSUNG lightscribe DVD writer purchased in 2010 is now showing signs of aging. Today it just stopped reading local DVDs. It does read some original CDs and DVDs.
So, how long usually is the longevity of a SAMSUNG DVD writer?
And when they cannot read can they be cleaned/adjusted, etc?
What wud be a good internal drive to get now?

Samsung is still the best. You can also try BenQ. Served 4 years for me until i sold it out in late 2011.
Im using a Samsung Combo drive...serving me well....
I also used the same one for the past 2 years on my previous pc..
But the prob is...Samsungs age very fast...dont know the specific reason though...:/

The longevity of optical drives depends a lot on usage and your luck, I've this used repaired Samsung DVD Writer which I bought from Elephant Road and it's still serving my cousin to this day.
