Don't ignore a game just because it has bad reviews. Most critics don't have much time to play the game from start to end and just write a review based on some gameplay videos. They do the review as fast as possible to get it out on their site. I've played a lot of games where i could not agree with the so called expert critics. My theory is at least try the demo before you ignore it.

You are wrong. Well reviewers get the game 1 week to 2 weeks before the game release. They play the whole game nonetheless and then they made reviews. And publishers asked them when to release their reviews. So there's plenty of time to go through every details of the game by themselves, even the multiplayer. And they don't hurry about it.

Ya, I know they get the games ahead of time. sometimes even 30 days ahead of the release. but I've talked with a few reviewers (not mentioning site name) and most of them said the same thing. It is not possible for them to play all the games they get. on average they get about 3+ games per day and one of them might be high profile and others might be live arcade games or indie games. They also get game play footage and character background info, story info along with whole lot of extras, such as wallpapers, screenshots etc. from the developers. I am not saying they do this all the time, but when they are on a tight schedule, specially during holiday seasons (such as November and December when most of the high profile games come out), they sometimes do a half ¤¤¤ review. This is the reason why you see mixed reviews on lots of games.
