Desktop and Tasbar freeze with mouse moving. Widnsows 7 ultimate x64 .
For the last 4-5 months i ve been intermittently (about once a week) getting this. Mostly it happened while browsing with mozila firefox..but not while gaming ..up until yesterday, it froze my fifa 12.
i alt+tab ed my way out of it. but thats about it. my desktop was forzen, and was unresponsive to anything.
cntrl-alt-delete would take me to a black screen with moving mouse, and just stay like that forever. i had to hard boot my pc.
it happened twice in the last two days. otherwise my pc is fine in between incidence .any ideas?
one more thing- its been about 2 years since my last windows setup.
tagging for help- @Codex @aayman @Vanguard
Probably the disk crapping out, get me a CrystalDiskInfo report or something.
Is your mouse completely responsive during that black screen or does it move in slow motion?

Did it ever happen to you when Firefox was not running? You said it happened during FIFA, but didn't mention if FF was running in the background.
no my mouse is completely responsive with the black screen. .and fifa was running alone nothing in the background. so ..i guess its not with firefox or chrome..
i did a regcure and malwarebytes scan recently, and waiting to see if that problem happens again. hoping its something with the OS or drivers, coz a harware problem presenting like that would be like finding a needle in the haystack.
You HDD report looks fine. You can elimate the HW one by one.
Get this: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
And test out your RAMs. Of you get a BSOD before the test completes then its your RAMs. If that is successful, get prime95 and do a CPU stress test. Then get Furmark and do a GPU test (for <5 minutes) and lastly do an OCCT PSU test (this will place high loads on your CPU and GPU). If any test fail then the next one is not needed.
If they all succeed, then just write this off to OS problems and reinstall
ok i ll do that. one thing though is it possible to run the memtest from within the windows? and how long should i stress my cpu with prime95?

well..i ve done the tests. memtest 2 passes, furmark for 5 mins, OCCT PSU test for 10 mins. prime test for 1 hour . nothing returned any errors. but funny thing is even today my desktop froze once. while i was trying to copy some files in my HDD.. i guess i should try reinstalling the windows once.
