Default A discussion about data redundancy setup

My new mobo (P8Z77 V Delux) has SSD caching. Right now I don't have any SSD but I plan to get one soon (256GB or so).
My recent issues with hdd really worries me. A day of unexpected computer downtime means a great loss for me and my data on hdd are extremely valuable. So I am thinking of some kind of redundancy setup.

What I want to know is how a SSD can be utilized in a mirror raid setup?

2x smaller SSD on mirror raid for OS
2x medium sized HDD on mirror raid for valuable data
random large (2TB+) hdds without any raid for not so important storage

1x large SSD as SSD caching
2x performance HDD on mirror raid for OS and valuable data
random large (2TB+) hdds without any raid for not so important storage

    1x SSD for OS
2x medium sized HDD on mirror raid for valuable data
random large (2TB+) hdds without any raid for not so important storage

    etc.

    Pros/cons? ideas?

imo, ssd is and will always be vulnerable to data loss due to architecture. your third option seems best to me. hdd price is coming down so it will be a raelly good setup with 1 128/256 GB ssd, 2x 2TB on raid and a 2TB for normal storage.
