    Thumbs up Destiny

    Destiny (Project name)
    Developer(s) Bungie
    Publisher(s) Activision
    Composer(s) Martin O'Donnell, Paul McCartney
    Platform(s) Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC
    Release date(s) Fall 2013

A few hints to Destiny were shown in Bungie's 20th Anniversary Documentary, O Brave New World. The name "Tiger" was first used, but recent information tells that the new project name is "Destiny". The "Tiger" name was put forward by Jason Jones in the documentary. He stated in the video, "One reason that Tiger is so intriguing to so many people in the studio is that it's reaching players in a way that we haven't before,"Bungie writer Joseph Staten stated about the game, "We feel responsible for not just telling an isolated story but for building a universe that at some point is going to become more "the fans" than ours. It's going to take a life of its own."Executive producer Joseph Tung added also, "I believe that it absolutely will be a game-changer in the way that Halo was a game-changer."

    update:
Bungie’s Destiny to contain sandbox elements

Speaking in the latest Mailbag on the site, the firm noted the “sandbox” elements to the game when it was mentioned former Rockstar designer Danny Bulla was hired on.
“We liked Red Dead Redemption so much that we hired Danny Bulla to come here and help us fill your next sandbox,” said the firm. “He’s doing some amazing work and, so far, he hasn’t tried to lash any of us to a pair of railroad tracks.”
Looking over Bulla’s LinkedIn profile, it notes Bungie hired him back in April 2011, so he’s been there quite a while already.
Bulla was a senior game designer at Rockstar Games San Diego, where he worked on Red Dead Redemption and it’s Undead Nightmare and Mode packs.
Before that, he was a game designer at Midway and worked on Blacksite: Area-51.
The Bungie post also notes Destiny will feature sounds effects which required the firm to enlist an “entire orchestra of artists” to create.
Still no word on when to expect the title in 2013, but the firm is currently scouting beta testers for the project.

well there is a small possibility that it could be Xbox 720 exclusive.
so don't get hope high so early.

hopefully Activision won't let that happen.

Bungie confirms leak of story info, concept art for Destiny

An IGN reader has provided the site with a bundle of Destiny art and story materials that it says were compiled by an ad agency. Destiny is the long-rumored secret project that will serve as Bungie's followup to the Halo series. The art shows an Earth in a future "littered with the ruins of man's Golden Age," according to the materials, with a huge alien ship sitting above the planet. There are also shots of various soldiers and war vehicles, along with a more final logo similar to the one we've seen before.

And now Bungie has added to the collection with its own official piece of concept art above. On the official Bungie blog, the company vaguely confirms the leaks, saying, "Go ahead. Take a peek. It's alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can't wait to finally show you what we've really been up to."

The leaked documents describe Destiny as "fun and accessible to all," and say the property's goal is "to create a universe as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise." That leaked contract between Bungie and publisher Activision about the project suggests that this title will involve four games, as many DLC releases, and stretch across the next console generation, so it's possible that this art reveals the very first step in what might be a long journey forward.

    Destiny unveiling within February 17
Developer confirms long-rumored name of first game with Activision; studio to officially show off game in five days.

Bungie today confirmed that its all-new universe with Activision is called Destiny. This had long been rumored, though Bungie finally today bluntly stated, "So, our game is called Destiny."

The developer also said Destiny will be officially unveiled on February 17. Bungie recently launched a teaser website counting down to the proper reveal.
Bungie also today launched Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ channels for Destiny.

Destiny is Bungie's first project as part of a 10-year publishing deal with Call of Duty company Activision. Legal documents from May suggested that the game will be released for the Xbox 360 in 2013, with a 2014 release slated for the PlayStation 3.
The game is reportedly "quite like Halo."

So, it's a console exclusive only? Or will there be a PC version too in the near future.

Destiny coming to PS3, X360, “future gen”; no PC yet

Destiny is on its way to current-gen HD consoles for sure and very probably next-gen hardware, too – but the PC misses out for now, with Bungie claiming that “nobody” uses a keyboard and mouse any more.

The “MMO-ish” shooter is headed to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and mysterious “future generation technology”, which almost certainly means one or both upcoming consoles from Microsoft and Sony. This information runs counter to a contract released last year, which had the first Destiny down as an Xbox exclusive, but has been widely confirmed.
IGN reports there will be no cross-platform play between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; no word on next-gen consoles, of course.
No PC release has been touted and Bungie and Activision describe Destiny as a “console shooter”. Bungie’s Jason Jones told Destructoid that the developer has already made mouse and keyboard players obsolete.
“We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people. We limited players to two weapons, we gave them recharging health, we automatically saved and restored the game – almost heretical things to first-person shooters at the time,” he said.
“We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to.”
That said, Bungie COO Pete Persons told the Examiner that a PC version may be forthcoming.
“We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned,” he said. Activision boss Eric Hirshberg said the publisher wants Destiny to be “wherever gamers are”.
Activision is describing Destiny as a new kind of game, a “shared world shooter”. GamesIndustry reports Destiny features persistent worlds and sandbox elements. Other reports mention procedurally generated missions as well as ongoing crafted content.
Although it won’t require a subscription fee and supports solo play, it has MMO features and requires an always-on Internet connection. The science fiction plot takes characters to various solar system locations, including Mars and the moon, and there’s a social hub in a city on Earth.
There will be at least three classes – the long-range Hunter, the mage-like Warlock, and something called a Titan. There will be no matchmaking or UI.
Bungie released an official description of Destiny on its forum:
Everything changed with the arrival of the Traveler. It sparked a Golden Age when our civilization spanned our solar system, but it didn’t last. Something hit us, knocked us down. The survivors built a city beneath the Traveler, and have begun to explore our old worlds, only to find them filled with deadly foes.
You are a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth, able to wield incredible power. Defend the City. Defeat our enemies. Reclaim all that we have lost.

    • Key features:
    • The next evolution of entertainment – an incredible story set within a newly-imagined, always-connected universe filled with action and adventure.
    • Create your character, forge your legend by defeating powerful foes, and earn unique and customized weapons, gear and vehicles.
    • Unprecedented variety of FPS gameplay that redefines the genre breaks traditional conventions of story, cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, combined with public and social activities.

Journalists who attended an embargoed reveal event at Bungie were not shown any gameplay. More concrete details of how the game actually plays are expected at upcoming reveals, but for now your best look at the game is the reveal vidoc.
A release window has not been set, and although Bungie had previously confirmed a 2013 launch, Activision’s recent financials noted no Bungie release was expected in the appropriate quarters.

Go home Bungie, you are drunk..

nothing special. you see why would a dev port it to pc when the game cracks on day one n when they can get millions of sells in consoles. there are few pc gamers who will originally buy the game compared to consoles. its not that bungie doesn't want it on pc. but seriously I think its getting useless for the devs day by day. u see that's the reason behind crysis too.... n moreover yes the increasing number in console gaming is another reason pc falling behind. you can obviously see the sell number of the consoles last year. despite being 10 years old the xbox360 is still selling at a good rate. I dnt think Bungie is wrong here. bungie is a great dev n I dnt think they r drunk. well my personal opinion.

New info posted on Bungie's site page:

    http://www.bungie.net/en-us/Destiny#page=story

Our civilization once spanned the solar system. Its ruins are still out there: buried in the dunes of Mars, hidden in the jungles of Venus, lost in a wild and abandoned Earth. For centuries we've huddled under the safety of the Traveler, protected from our enemies. Now, a new era has begun, and the only hope for our future lies in unlocking the greatest mysteries of our past.

Everything changed with the arrival of the Traveler. Long ago, it breathed new life into our system and began our Golden Age. But it did not last. Something hit us. Knocked us down. Tried to stamp us out. No one knows exactly what, but we do know this: very few of us survived, and those who did owe their lives to the Traveler.
In our darkest days, Humans, Exos, and Awoken found the Traveler where it made its last stand, low above Earth, silent and immobile. We built this City – our last – within its protective Shield, fighting countless wars to keep its peace. From that dark age, the Guardians of the City were born.

Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age.

The first Titans built the Wall, and gave their lives to defend it. Now, you stand in the same high place, steadfast and sure, protecting all who shelter in your shadow. You hail from a long line of heroes, forged from strength and sacrifice. Our enemies may be deadly and merciless, but so are you.

Hunters once prowled the wilderness and wastelands, taking big risks for even bigger rewards. You're no outlaw—at least, not anymore—but making your own luck has always meant bending the rules. Your unique brand of daring and ingenuity is needed now more than ever.

    Enemies

The Fallen are a scourge, tirelessly engaged in war against us and scavenging all that remains. They say their Houses have claimed every planet and moon we ever touched. If you see one in the wild, know there are many more nearby, and don't hesitate to send their souls screaming into the black.

    Dreg
These relentless thieves seem driven by desperation and rage. They are crafty, but they usually give up their cover with their clattering and hissing. Most seem outfitted with some kind of shock dagger and pistol, and as far as we can gather, they seem to only have two arms, while other Fallen have four.
    Vandal
The truths about the Fallen chain-of-command are still making themselves known, but Vandals appear to hold a higher ranking than the Dregs, and deadlier weapons, too. They often have long range capability, but, lucky for us, their weapons take time to charge.
    Captain
Fallen run in packs, led by an individual Captain. There is no denying a Captain's might; they are the fiercest of the Fallen. There is this sense of tattered nobility to them. You can see it in the way they carry themselves. They think they're better than us. They believe that Earth belongs to them.
