Rush3d win ASUS Autumn 2008
The 23rd edition of the Russian LAN tournament took place yesterday in Moscow.
30 teams from all over Russia as well as the Ukraine and Belarus gathered in the capital to fight for a prize pool of almost 100,000 roubles (roughly $3500 USD).
One team had to walk away victorious however, and that team was the ever-formidable Rush3D. They were the defending champions from ASUS Winter, and now with the addition of ARS-ART, they looked stronger than ever.
This tournament was the first time many would get to see Smile playing with his new team, and the fans of the old VP era weren't let down.
Their path to the top was not easy though, losing one of their early group stage games against sp6, who were knocked out of the tournament in an epic semi-final by DTS.
The final games were always going to be hotly contested, but the fact that the former Virtus.Pro team-mates were going to be clashing head-on made it even more tense.
And the fans of the old era were not let down, as the veterans such as NS, LightOfHeaven, Vigoss and ARS-ART showed off much of their former glory, and lesser known players like Aidar and Dendi stepped up to the plate and fought to prove themselves as good as the titans.
The first game went back and forth, DTS owning up the early game with some nice ganks, however they weren't able to capitalise on their advantage and Rush3D managed to claw their way to victory through some fantastic team play.
DTS then promptly responded by coming back with a bang in the second game, rallying and managing to equalise, making it 1:1.
The Ukrainian team then went all out, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Russians, and for a while it looked like they might manage it. However they could not stop the combined might of pgg's Dragon Knight with its HoD and Assault Cuirass and LightOfHeaven's mighty Magnataur, who with excellent support from ARS-ART's Lina and NS's Ogre Mage, carried their team to victory.
The final standings looked like this:
Russia RuSh3D - 45,000 rubles
Ukraine DTS.Chatrix - 30,000 roubles
Russia XoxaTEAM - 20,000 roubles
If you are a fan of the particularly Russian style of DotA, then check out the finals.
