    Default Intel Pentium G630 2.7Ghz

    Hello everybody

    i have
    Intel pentium 4 HT 3.00GHZ
    2gb ram
    Nvidia 9600GT
    windows xp sp3

    Question 1
My pc is having overheating problems, i checked with Hwmonitor
    At idle the temps are

    Processor
    Diode 1 - 108C
    Internal - 60C
    Diode 2 - 60C

    GPU - 65C

So are these temperatures normal or really high? even simple games like age of empires 3 has 1-5 fps now, whereas a year ago i played gta IV at 15-20 fps.
i saw these thermaltake extreme spirit and extreme spirit II cooler with heatpipe , are those put on the processor?will using those reduce my temperatures?
By the way, i took my pc to the shop and they said i had a Short in my motherboard.

    Question 2

    I need suggestions on cpu
I want to buy a Pentium G630 2nd generation 2.7GHZ, but as you know it lacks Hyperthreading and is 2.7GHZ compared to 3.00Ghz
So, is it a good choice to upgrade Pentium 4 TO G630?
Moreover, will my Nvidia 9600GT bottleneck the G630 because i wanted to keep the video card?
I have a low budget, i checked all prices and everything and at low budget i found that the pentium G630 is good for gaming.
I had another build in mind but that will cost over 70000tk, which i cant spend right now.
What will be a good motherboard for gaming with G630 at a total of 13000tk along with 4gb ram?

I know i asked lots of questions but please bhayara help me
    thanks

have you reset your thermalpaste ??? you should try and place the cpu fan and heatpaste rightly .this kind of thing happened to me too then i adjusted the heatsink and heatpaste all over again then everything became normal
and about upgrading .yeahhhhhh it is a good choice to upgrade to pentium G630 .and you don't need hyper threading technology to play games .Hyper threading is only needed in video encoding ,audio editing like this kind of high performance work .The pentium G630 has more advanced technology than your pentium 4 .Pentium G630 is a second generation core processor whereas your's is a old generation pentium processor.so the pentium G630 2.7 ghz is way better than your P4 3.00 ghz from every angle .hope this helps

Q1 - CPU temps sounds too high even for a Pentium 4. With FPS like those, seems like a mobo issue to me. Test the 9600GT and the cpu in another PC just to be sure.

Q2 - Are you referring that g630 @2.7 = P4 @3ghz?? If so you are wrong. Its equivalent or even better performer than a core2duo @3ghz. So yeah its a good jump for you. The 9600GT shouldn't bottleneck the g630. Get a gigabyte h61-s2p-b3 with the g620/g630. With a 4gb DDR3 stick it shouldn't cross 13k. Hope this helps. Another thing, as @mr_08 suggested, introduce yourself in the member central.

@Vangaurd:Good one man! And what about G840 (check it here http://community.futuremark.com/hard...ocessor/review)
But G630 is way better than the outdated pentium 4.

Dnt use a single penny in ur recent config.Buying a cpu cooler wont performance boost ur pc rather u can only reduce the temperature by some extent. So dont waste ur money buying a cpu cooler.2nd genertion & 3rd generation cpus are by far best cpu now.G630 is far better than ur pentium 4.My advice is to buy a brand new g630 or buy a secondhand i3 2100 with a gigabyte/asrock/msi b75 mobo.Just saw a ad in gaming gears group of fb a i3 2100 is for sell worth 7.5k.B75 mobo will cost u 6~6.5k.So invest in buying a new pc rather wasting money on the old 1.

Here's what's wrong, those LGA 775 Pentium 4s are notorious for generating a lot of heat, from intel's website the optimum temperature stated for this particular process at full load is 67 degree c or so, and either your cooler's loose or the thermal paste has dried up and due to it the processor is overheating, there's probably nothing wrong with your motherboard, but due to the lack of sufficient cooling your processor is hitting temperatures that makes it throttle, throttle is a safety procedure to prevent the processor from damage when it's overheating by reducing the clock speed on it's own to keep the temperature in check, so that explains the poor frames per second, although a Pentium 4 processor is a definite bottleneck for a 9600GT, what you must do is get a cooler and then you can sell of your motherboard and processor at a reasonable price as there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, add some more cash and buy yourself A Pentium G620 and a H61 motherboard with compatible RAM, keep your current graphics card, it's almost on par with HD6670.

Now where is Pentium 4 in that chart? Is that performance is so much lower that they are not interested to include in this?
