Default [VC] AMD Radeon HD 8870 and HD 8850 Specifiation Leaked

According to the source, Radeon HD 8870 would be as fast as GeForce GTX 680, that’s 30% faster than GTX 660 Ti. Card would be clocked at 1050 MHz for base, and 1100 MHz for boost. So it seems that AMD will also implement their PowerTune feature for next series. There’s a noticeable increase in memory bandwidth (192GB/s). New Radeon HD 8870 would have effective memory clock around 6GHz (assuming it would be 256-bit interface). Leaked data also reveal that new mid-range/high-end GPU would have a TDP of 160W, that’s a 15W lower than Pitcairn-based HD 7870.

The mid-range Radeon HD 8850, which is comparable to GeForce GTX 670 in terms of performance. It would also feature the boost clock (925/975 MHz). In case of TDP, this model would have a similar power requirements as HD 7850 — 130W

If these claims are true, my god, will we have a winner in your hands or what...

No, we won't, this is what the HD7XXX series should've been, from performance's point of view, nvidia won the GPU battle for this year, and by the time the HD8XXX series surface, nvidia will come up with something that out paces it by a good margin, the game of CPU and GPU are like a never ending see saw.

Err...what? The 7970 was released more than 3 months before the 680 and is within 7% of the performance of the latter while being stronger at compute and matching performance when both are overclocked. I dont see how the 7xxx series should have had a midrange part that equals a 680 unless you are reading it incorrectly.

And as to the specifications, simply incorrect speculation but its fun to i guess.

    What Mazhar said.

On-topic: The original source of this speculation comes from read2ch. Remember that this site correctly predicted the specs of the 79x0 cards months before their release. So I am guessing these specs are genuine as well.

The number 1 manufacturer of video card are the no1 notorious marketing policy taker as well. Nvidia always behind and release theie card which are to compete with already released gpus from amd!!! A total joke indeed. They got plenty of time to monitor amd gpus performance for any given series and smartly push their gpus performance a bit higher for their series to compete, thus secure top in benchmark. But in mid range battle its a different story ... I never like Nvidias gpuz.... over priced, foul and useless market hipe and pretty little room for ocing. Give me 20k worth 7850. I will safely OC it and it will surely outperform gtx 670 worth 40k! This are proven facts ... despite I use a gtx 580 .... Im planning to sell it asap and will go for 7950 ....

What are you smoking? No amount of OC can make up for the difference between these two cards, laws of physics are against your 'proven facts'.

Well I might have exaggerated alittle but take a look at this. It nearly catches 670 . I meant 7870 though available within usd 250.

Now there are still more head room for nore squeezeing which is possible, a few bios tweaking n then flash , boom with good gpu cooler, you can kick the nvidia a.. good bye btw, for the records I smoke b & h. Didn't take weed or else would have been a fan boy of nvidia

@sakibchy every chip vary erratically when they are pushed to their limits. having said that, even if u could oc a given 7870 up to 670 performance level, I highly doubt its' usability more than a month.

Now there are still more head room for nore squeezeing which is possible, a few bios tweaking n then flash , boom with good gpu cooler, you can kick the nvidia a.. good bye btw, for the records I smoke b & h. Didn't take weed or else would have been a fan boy of nvidia
You are talking about a monster OC on already an OC'd card. The OC in TPU is possible, but OCing it further to make up the 670 difference? That's what, 15-20% more (from stock OC)? Best of luck with that and you might actually see a boom. And why only Nvidia, get the 7870 and kick AMD's own ¤¤¤ as well.

B&H got you this far, try some weed, a 7870 will beat 680 quad sli as well

So, no competition against amd? Or will nv give everything they have got in Maxwell?

    I don't get one thing-
Lets take a look at Fermi generation- nv releases gf10X chips (gtx 400 series) which was a uber fail. Then comes revised Fermi, gf11X (gtx 500 series) and it was pretty good. And now comes 1st gen of Kepler (gk10X), although nv used their midrange gk104s for gtx680, 670 and 660ti. Amd got lucky because gk100 failed.

Now, according to past releases, next up should be gk11X, revised Kepler, but there is no news about it anywhere. Will nv let amd lead all of 2013 or will they come up with gtx700 series?

No there will be GTX700, Kepler refresh should around the same time GTX600 released as well. That was late March I think.
