    i have used local made psu all these year .they never failed me ...

    Even though Vanguard bro is skeptic when it comes to power supplies, even he acknowledges that there is a need for a branded power supply, of course if you've been using not so power hungry components over the years then those cheap power supplies are good enough for you.

    I aint sceptic rather im "efficient". Just like, a 400w FSP aurum is far far better than a 700w Litepower.

    I think the electric bill of a low end graphics card that i m getting every month ...efficiency is what i m looking for right now ...so what would be a good brand to run a 6870 ...should i go for 400w for good brands or 500w should be my target(as amd mentioned it in their site)

    Without a good PSU, you are wasting electricity. Also, your GPU might under-perform.

    ofcourse psu is needed, when I first bought ATI 4770 back in 09, i had stock psu, i still turned it on and my pc turns off at bios window
