    MYM.DotA and slasher part ways

What has seemingly been under way for quite some time, has now finally happened, as Danish star player Lasse "slahser" Malver has left his team - MYM.DotA. This did not come completely unexpected though, as slahser hasn't played with the team for quite some time.

    slasher and MaNia-

The departure of slahser first reached the public yesterday, when he started leaving the MYM.DotA squad on various leagues and tournament sites. He also parted from the #MYM.DotA IRC channel and that raised suspicion which lead to people asking him if he left the team, which he confirmed without hesitation.

We caught up with MYM|Maelk and slahser himself, to set things straight and to get a statement about the situation.

slahser: "As some of you may have noticed, I am no longer part of MYM. This is due to various reasons, including school, inactivity and bunch of other things. I'd like to thank MYM for their support and my teammates for many enjoyable moments of gaming, travelling and being at events. For now I will most likely take a break for competitive DotA while I consider whether or not I should keep playing."Click image for larger version.

MYM|Maelk: "During the last couple of days a lot of people has noticed that Lasse 'slahser' Malver is no longer a part of our roster. While unfortunate, it was inevitable that the team and Lasse would part ways eventually.

The chemistry simply wasn't there and from what I can only believe to be a mutual feeling it was a somewhat strained relationship from the get-go. Because of the unquestionable high level of skill that Lasse possesses we took in this diamond in the rough over a year ago.

Things were working out thus far, but over the course of the past months it has become more and more obvious that the team and he wasn't exactly a match made in heaven. I think that the lack of attendance by Lasse at both ESWC Masters as well as the grand finals caused him a lot of grief. Tension between him and the team grew steadily and ultimately it all escalated in one of our matches. Both parts decided that this had been going on long enough and vented their frustrations for each other, ending up with Lasse realizing his time as a member of the team had come and gone.

I wish things could have went differently, but with all the time and effort that both Lasse and the team puts into the game there simply isn't room for resentment and hostility amongst the players. This was the only solution that both of us could be at ease with. I would like to wish Lasse best of luck in his future endeavors whether he chooses to focus on school or join another team."

Because of slahser's depature, MYM had to change their lineup for tis Dreamhack 2008 winter, due to slahser had been participating with the team for the last two Dreamhacks, being 2007 winter and 2008 summer. Maelk confirmed the 'new' lineup for this event to be:

    Dreamhack Winter 2008 line-up:

    MYM|Maelk
    MYM|Pusher
    MYM|MaNia-
    MYM|H4nni-
    MYM|Fear

    MYM.DotA roster looks as follow:

    MYM|Maelk
    MYM|Pusher
    MYM|MaNia-
    MYM|H4nni-
    MYM|Fear
    MYM|Merlini

MYM will not suffer at all i guess, because he was a player who didnt play regularly, he was always like a part time player. But the imbaness of his POTM, Witch Doctor and many other heroes will be missed by all of us. I think when slasher was a regular member of MYM he didnt play all games, as only some of his heroes were imba (time when Levent used to be in MYM). Anyways Good Luck to him. Best Wishes.

Still lot to learn from players. The reason for me trying the hero POTM was slahser his stuns were so unpredictable, i always wanted to be a good PoTM like him. Gotta watch ARS-ART and Angell's PoTM, maybe i can learn something more. Thanks for the info.

Solo PotMs are fail, added to that Radiance??? Shame on you for calling yourself the best PotM. ARS-ART's PotM are history now, so look out for Met|Angel^Mom's PotM. And, another great PotM player was SGC.neKro. He was ONLY picked to play that specific hero.

Also, MYM had a lot of PotM players. Maelk used to play the Midas gank/farm PotM. Slahser used to play the conservative solo PotM (when someone else jungled). H4nni- used to play the dedicated farming carry PotM. And, Finally MaiNa- played the gank heavy Deso Cuirass PotM. Slahser's number one skill was that he didn't feed in the worst of situations. That's why he used to solo PotM vs dual-lanes. Slahser used to also play Zeus and Melee Carries. In fact, he got into MYM because of his stellar performances with Rexxar for Denmark in the first MYM Prime Nations. Dig up the replays if you want to see the perfect Beastmaster play.

Who gave you that award? Someone who awards a solo PotM has definitely got problems with his DotA knowledge. The hero just wasn't meant to be soloed.

What do you mean by something I haven't proved? I don't play PotM in Clan games, but there are 100s of replays in Assault. You wouldn't know if you sit on GG and try to lvl-up all day. (OFc talking about 2 month back screnarios). I remmeber playing PotMs a lot when I subbed for SP. Wolf should remember a lane, his CE and my PotM, one of the best lanes ever played at Assault.

As far as I am concerned, very few people have proved as much as a solo player as me or Nafi over the last 2 and a half years. Not just say 8 months/1 year like most of the lot active now. Also, the reason you cannot compare is that our seriousness has been dwindling as soon as we left Bass for Assault. In Bass we were like 24/7 gamers (like you are now), and after Bass was destroyed, and the players scattered, (Ovik Bhai went abroad, ND inactive, Rubai incident, etc). My only three links for playing DotA were Nafi (RotR), Farhan (God_Slay_666) and Saad (InFn0-CoB666), and to some extent Mazhar. I just kept on playing for them. When we left BASS, we were the best, we were legends, and after that we stopped practicing/caring like we used to. COmpared to the seriousness we had you guys are nothing, yes, believe me. Bass was not a walk in the park. We played drafts when you guys were auto-attacking. So, meh, maybe we didn't have a forum to advertise us, but everyone knew what Bass was. That's what I have to say. A player may come and compare current skills (still, probably am able to own 95% of the players, regardless of the fact that I didn't play for 2.5 months), but when they come and talk about heritage, legacy and proving yourself; I laugh inside.
