    Default too much problems with BTCL

    for the last 10 days or so i can't use my net properly. ADSL light remains stable but i can't browse for long enough in either chrome or mozilla. why is that? while this happens my torrent works perfectly. for browsing to run smoothly again i need to restart my pc again. it is worth mentioning that 192.168.1.1 can't also be opened in my browser while the problem persists.

    i tried contacting EMEM but their customer service is so pathetic i feel like punching them all in their faces. last tuesday they told me that by that night the problem will be solved. although i can enjoy better browsing time than before.

    another thing i have noticed today is that while i try downloading a video using IDM, i face the same browsing issue. for 3-4 mins IDM keeps on downloading while browsing remains stable along with my torrent. then after 3-4 mins IDM can not gather any dl speed & my browsing also stops. in all these torrent works fine with the normal speed i normally enjoy.

    HELP/SOLUTION?

    What about torrent downloading? Does it remain stable? It happened to me a few days back. The problem looks now solved. Ping google from cmd and see if there's any packet loss.

    (If your torrent download is just fine, the problem might have something to do with port 80.)

    You might want to format your operating system and see if the problem persists.

    Ping to what? (BTCL ping fluctuates a lot in the rainy season. It's normal for your ping to be high. Wait a day or so and see if it improves.)

    ping to google.com.

    one more thing. from last wednesday i was having frequent disconnections. tried contacting EMEM but no reply. so i called a lineman yesterday to check the line in the main tel. box. he made some tweaks (said there was some loose connection) but even after that i faced disconnections. so went to EMEM last evening to file a complaint. after returning home i found my net was stable till 7am today. but after iftar today i am again facing frequent disconnections. SNR seems to fluctuate a lot. it is 5.4/6.0 while i am writing.

    As far as I know, you shouldn't face frequent disconnection being under DC. Only those of us who are under SBN face frequent disconnection. Your problem is similar to the problem I've lately faced. It matches verbatim. Anyway, what are the first 3 digits of the TNT number through which you got this line?

    @faisal.amir.bd could help I believe.

    If the SNR is this low it is definitely a local problem, assuming your modem is OK.

    However, the fact that you cannot browse, whereas torrents are running fine in the background, suggests something else. Moreover, the fact that you cannot even enter your modem further narrows the problem down. Your modem is the culprit, most likely.

    When you're facing these issues, can you ping 192.168.1.1 i.e. your modem?

    suddenly from 3am last night onwards i can browse properly with occasional disconnection as expected during the rainy season. but otherwise ATM it's fine.

    about pinging 192.168.1.1 do u mean going going for http:\\192.168.1.1 using my browser while there is the problem? if yes then yes i have faced problems while trying to open modem settings in the browser (i.e. http:\\192.168.1.1)

    Not really, what I meant was going to command prompt, and typing "ping 192.168.1.1 -t". There should be a reply from your modem. Try that the next time the problem occurs. It's probably the modem dying.

    Hmm, the modem is responding to ping requests, but anyways, I think the modem is behind your problem, since you cannot access it during your problems. Maybe you could try borrowing a modem from someone?
