Hi gyz, I'm planning on buying a 1 TB HDD. It's been too long using my old 80 GB HDD. Can you suggest me which brand and model would be best?

Samsung F3 - HD103SJ is a good one! Anyone knows from which shop I can get that in IDB? and also the price?

    - - - Updated - - -

Well I called computers source and they said western digital caviar black 1 TB price - 16,500 and 2 TB - 20,800 bdt. Both of them are out of stock though...will arrive later in July. Anyway are these prices fair?

If it black then 20K is worth it. But If I were you, I would get a 60GB SSD at 8K and a normal 2TB for 15K.

Yes, expect said 60GB ssds are nowhere to be found.

The one place where you can probably acquire them (and still have warranty), is shady as hell.

Old samsung f3 harddisks are't that easy to be found out these days especially after the share distribution between segate and samsumg.Probably there are "samsung by segate 500gb/1tb" harddisks available in the market but iirc perhaps segate has reduced their warrenty period into one year. And about the price of wd cavier black,i think it's fair caz they r cotaining 4/5 yrs warrenty.U can look for caviar blue or green too. They r somewhat cheaper than caviar black but they r containg 2 yrs warrenty instead of 5.

Nah, Seagate doesn't operate like that.

The entire brand is called Seagate now, whatever you see otherwise is almost 2 years old.

Thats the present status of segate. They have bought the hdd buisness from samsung and producing all hdd in their name. But old ones r still available in the market. U will find few old samsung spinpoint f3 and plenty of samsung by segate f3 here in bns.I saw a bunch of them 5 monthes back when i bought my wd.And every shopkeeper claimed that both of them will be provided full 1 yr warrenty.

Don't know why but in computer source's website I see all of the black, blue & green HDD's are provided with 2 years warranty. I know that black one's got dual processor and is faster, but what is the difference among WD green and blue HDD's?

I guess the green one is little bit power effecient and sacrifices a little bit of performance in order to consume less power. It's spindle speed is variable than the other two with higher access time.I think blue one will be the perfect caz its performance is somewhat in the middle between black and green.

The warranty period for WD HDD's should be this as it mentions in the WD site : http://wdc.com/en/products/internal/desktop/

Ok gyz I think I am gonna buy Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB WD2002FAEX
: http://wdc.com/global/products/specs/?driveID=899&language=1 Price will be 20,000 Bdt. What do you say?

    - - - Updated - - -

@Sumon Datta and @Codex Can you tell me which SSD's are available in BD? IF I can find a good one then i'll probably go for that and buy a WD green 2 TB in stead of black and save 6K+ there. Thanks in advance
