    Question PSU requirement

Hey everyone! I had a question on whether the following setup would be well served with a Generic PSU or whether its better to get a branded one

    Core i3-2100
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    Gigabyte H61M-S2P-B3
    Sapphire HD 7750
    80GB HDD (old)
    and a 16" LCD monitor

So will a Generic PSU suffice or not? Thanks

Oh, and umm... if I were to get an FX-4100 instead of the i3 would that be better....if so what motherboard would be needed within the same price as the H61(more or less)?? And will the power usage change at all?

A Delta 400W PSU will be good enough to power your rig, but just to be on the safe side of things, you'll be better off buying a 500W/550W unit, that way you won't be constantly pushing your power supply unit to it's limit, and will maintain a better efficiency rate with lots of headroom to spare and accommodate upgrades in the future.

As for your second question, a FX-4100 will draw almost twice the power of an i3 2100, will require a motherboard far more expensive than the H61, and will not outperform the core i3 2100 in terms of gaming but in multi threaded tasks it might get slightly ahead, but core i3 delivers much better performance per core than the FX-4100 does, and AMD is definitely not worth buying right now.
