Default The real story behind EVGAs "Mini-Recall" on GTX 670

Rumors spread faster than the wind. You may have already heard some ongoing rumors about "faulty gtx670s", apparently this is legit news, but this APPLIES TO A PARTICULAR BATCH OF EVGA CARDS ONLY. Not all nvidia cards were affected by this. The MSIs, the gigabytes, the POVs all work fine. Hell even the newer batches of EVGA work like a charm.

The heads up given by the company is here as follows :

    EVGA "Mini-Recall" on GTX 670

We mentioned earlier that we were getting word that EVGA was pulling back some GTX 670 products for the channel and that is specifically the case. Here is exactly what EVGA had to say:
EVGA has isolated this problem to an early batch of GTX 670 Superclock cards (P/N: 02G-P3-2672-KR) that were not properly screened during QA/QC procedure. We have already been working with our partners to retest this particular batch. In the meantime, our R&D has also done numerous tests, burn in and component quality verification to confirm that the EVGA GTX 670 Superclock is a well designed product.
If any of your users are experiencing issues with their EVGA GTX 670 Superclock boards, please ask them to email Jacob Freeman, and he will assist in getting them setup with an RMA cross shipment along with EVGA upgrading them to the GTX 670 FTW version (P/N: 02G-P3-2685-KR) for the inconvenience of this.

So, "EVGA has not recalled its 670 product line," as Joe Darwin with EVGA put it, but EVGA has identified some bad product in the field which it is bringing back in from etailers. EVGA was not forthcoming with what exactly "this problem" with its products is or how it is identified.
So before you start cursing nvidia know that they most probably had nothing to do with this. It was solely EVGAs fault, and they are taking full responsibility for this. To make things better as said above they are replacing the Super Clocked ones (The batch that got affected) with FTWs. Which are far more better and are of higher quality. Hope this cleared up any misconception you guys had.

This was known for a long time and that's what I kept repeating in the other thread.

I'm actually glad EVGA recalled it, I wouldn't be surprised if OEM just kept them in the market hoping that users won't file a claim. They went with the more expensive route instead and is even upgrading the cards.

I <3 EVGA but my 670s will be ASUS DCII (unless there's a newer one with backplate and kickass cooling ).

Meh, the other thread was fun Mahn, why'd you have to ruin it? I was having fun believing that the whole Keplar series is faulty, and and and doing 3D Mark 11 is a lot more fun than gaming, and and and and a HD7970 when clocked higher to match a GTX680's stock speed can kick ¤¤¤, and and and and and.. Gee I forgot but that thread was FUHN man I cried in the end when dipanzan said, "oh.. it's getting dark.. Shoot me partner.. Before they get to me.." and the thread got closed :'( it was so touchy, not to mention how brave aayman was with his Call Of Duty: Logical Warfare.

This is old news, I know. But you'd be surprised how many people have begun questioning Nvidias integrity after seeing that pathetic excuse of a post.

Well they DID do things in the past which bring up the questions every now and then. But their recent track record (since the 460) has been great and that should be taken into account as well.

I just hope this keeps up and we see great stuff from both camps.

^It's Artifact dude, and now I'm gonna label you as a troll, you are a Troll there I said it.

And how can we be sure that the link you posted about the guy complaining at nVidia's official forums isn't you yourself? You do have this habit of playing multiple person, which is fine, I'm sure you pretend to be Michael Schumacher on your free time, visit a Psychiatrist for our sake.
