Thread: AMD 12.3 update

    Default AMD 12.3 update

I have been using Win 7 64bit for quite some time now. Since the past 2 days, I see I cannot update the AMD driver from 12.3. Used auto update, tried to do it manually. Also completely uninstalled and installed the driver several times. After each installation of 12.4, the version installed is 12.3?

    Any ideas?

Download and install the latest version of driver sweeper, uninstall all AMD display related drivers from your system from the control panel, then reboot and hold the F8 key right before the windows 7 splash screen appears, the boot up menu should show up, choose safe mode, then run driver sweeper from safe mode and have it clean up all the remains of AMD display drivers within your system, once done it'll ask you for a restart, click yes and then install AMD catalyst 12.4, it should work now.

I thought it was only happening to me, but it appears that someone else is also having the same problem.

Well the drivers update upto 12.3, it does not go beyond that. Upgrading/driver sweeping/device manager tweak everything fails. When I uninstall 12.3 and install 12.4, it goes back to 11.7 (that was the one I had installed before 12.3). I also tried 12.5 beta, no use. But upto 12.3 works fine. CCC software info tells me that the version is 12.3 (or 11.7 as mentioned above). But if I run the setup for the respective version again to see if it upgrades (12.4/12.5), it says that everything is up to date. Some kinda bug or something? I didn't have time to look deeper into the problem, tomorrow is my Math 1st exam.

Hey proton chain - good to hear frm u after a while. And goodluck on ur exam.

Well - I did a bit of research and it seems the driver gets updated but for some reason it is not written as 12.4. If u look at the driver repacking version number, that number should correspond the number of 12.4. With me the repacking number (8.961) is that of 12.4.

If anyone delves any deeper - pls enlighten us.

SERIES hartal coming up, MAX PAYNE 3 coming up - I wan some SERIES gaming now (provided electricity is there).

Well, yes, I have noticed those numbers as well. Applications see it as 12.3 (or older) and it is stamped as 12.3 (or older) in the CCC, but the installer checks the version numbers and certifies it as "up to date". Something is wrong here.

By the way, thanks for wishing me luck
