So Microsoft, as always places a lot of priority on research and development...we all know about the Kinect...which is a camera that can detect motion in three dimensions, etc. but now a Microsoft research team came up with a revolutionary new technology which utilizes your microphone and sound box to sense the environment around you, detect 3d objects, gestures, etc. using sonar...also called the Dopplers effect in Physics.

According to experts, the technology even though at an early age...will actually be more accurate than the kinect, which mainly relies on camera for visual feeback.
So where do you expect these technologies to be used in the future? How about a self driving, driver less car (google's project) that just comes at you from a parking when you wave at it? Or an automated crane that you control with your fist from 100 feet away? I'd love to be engineer then!
