Thumbs up GPU fan makes rattling noise when it starts spinning.

I think my GPU is dead.. So, when the fan starts spinning from idle, I hear rattling sound. It only happens when it starts spinning. Once its spinning there is no sound, everything is normal.

So my GPU fans stop when temps go below 60c [It's design that way]. So when I close a game and run google chrome, temps sit around 57-60c and thus the fans starts spinning and stops spinning [which was also normal] but now for this reason I can hear the rattling sounds constantly.

I talked with Nvidia customer support and they told me to clean the dust of my GPU and then if the rattling noise is still there, they told me to RMA my GPU. It's gonna be a pain in the ¤¤¤ to tell my dad now.

But that's the least of my concern. I know how the guys in Computer Source are. Had a rough experience with them with RMAing my HDD. I'm pretty sure they're going to deny RMAing my GPU. I will keep trying though.

    Meanwhile, what should I do?

i don't think you have any major issues rather this just happening because of dust or may be the fans have become old /or the gpu . did you check the maximum temperature in games with msi after burner or is your gpu fans stops spinning on full load? observe this things , clean your chassi as well as clean up your fans and apply thermal paste and see what happens . if you see the rattling sound still doesn't go away then do the most least expected thing RMA your gpu . as the situation is be right now with computer source i don't think they will help you to RMA your gpu that easily rather take mental preparation to sell off your gpu and buy a new one

Chances of CS acting on your favour is slim to none.

that leaves you with 2 options

    1. inject lubrication to the fan hub. the method depends on type of fan hub. This is the most used & very effective fix.
    2. buy a replacement fan

Hopefully that will stop the rattling. I heard it has something to do with bad ball bearing. But it might be the dust too. Because it doesnt rattle at all once it spins. It only happens at the start like that of starting a car engine..

Where can I find a replacement fan for MSI gaming 6G models?

And since Computer Source is ¤¤¤¤¤. Where should I get new GPU from [incase I get one]? Is Ryans good?

If you want top class support buy from importers like global brands, ucc.. about computer source they went bankrupt recently and now only focusing on being a distributor only company (they also tried to popularize refurbished products in bd )

Ryans just visit their FB page and reviews ... the moment you will have complicated issues they will back paddle even after waiting for months without ur product ... if product functions correctly it's a bliss bcz u paid less compared to other retailers, but problems will arise when u will claim warranty for ur products ...

like for monitos they don't give warranty for inverter boards u have to pay for it urself even if ur monitor is 7 days old, even large distributors like Rangs electronics only gives 2 years warranty for lcd panel .. after that even with 5 years warranty u have to repair defective panel yourself which will cost 60-80% of ur TV/monitor's original price ....

they also have other hidden clauses like this... for ur case I guaranty u they are not going to give you any sort of support ... but you can definitely try

I guess I will have to rely on importing things then..

    Thanks for the info.

I only buy from star tech these days, they are so polite and blazing fast with RMA process. The only thing I dislike about them is that if you didn't call first before going you'll have to wait 2-3 hours.

And to the people who are skeptical/ making fun of my post, please try it first then post the results here. If none of you complain how will the situation change?

PSA: Get some "mama-chacha" if you want to survive in BD.

Thanks for the info. Good to know Star Tech is polite. Because it seems like they are the only ones that are selling G-sync monitors at cheap price.

I would. UCC has honored warranties on products for me always without question.

that leaves you with 2 options

    1. inject lubrication to the fan hub. the method depends on type of fan hub. This is the most used & very effective fix.
    2. buy a replacement fan
