Only one suggestion do not buy Epson multifunction printers. In my experience printing is horribly slow and paper jams every three pages.

    Thank you.
    U never mentioned budget.
Also u did not clarify ur need. Will u b doing heavy printing? Are u a student who needs average of 30-40 pages a week?

Start frm your need and then match it with ur budget.

Personally I detest deskjets and inkjets - because no matter what the brand - nowadays - ink in the cartridge will dry up sooner or later and that too before the advertised number of pages. This happens mostly with HP but less with Canon and the others. U may refill but after 2 refills, no use. Companies are also trying hard to make their cartridges more refill proof.

I like laserjets cuz the ink just keeps going on and on until the end. Many multifunction laserjets are in Dhaka now the newcomers being BROTHER and SAMSUNG. Some of their models u can get as low as 12500bdt. After u have used up the toner u can always go to a compatible toner that is cheaper. BROTHER-SAMSUNG-CANON multi printers also come with network and wireless versions. Along with auto-duplex function (the printer flips the page and prints for u).

With laserjets the print per page i.e. one side comes to -lowest I have seen - 70p. As u use compatible toners this price will reduce. New toners will cost from 2500 upto 4500 depending on model with page yields of 1500 upto 2600. I have heard Canon compatible toners are more widely available. BROTHER and SAMSUNG are just coming in.

I have firsthand experience with BROTHER - they r reliable and good print at an affordable price albeit a bit clunky in size.

EPSONS - I like the dot matrix - the rest not so good as u will b dependent on FLORA LTD for support and supplies, whom are douches of awwal darja.

Look at Canon, Lexmark, Brother. Global is bringing Brother. STAR TECH in Multiplan is stocking all of them.

So goodluck - hope that has helped.

Thanks man, my purpose is for lite printing and would be using very little but scanner would be used mostly. Budget as low as possible as I am using the printer very less.

I agree with what Rajmi said.

Canons perform well and the ink is widely available. HPs perform well, ink available, dries up a bit quicker than Canon. Lexmark has given me poor user experience; the deskjet printer itself performed poorly and ink cartridge, refill was not upto the mark.

I cannot really give u specific models as u will have to do the homework urself on that. As u mentioned light scanning and printing - deskjet will suffice for u. Make sure to keep the cartridge rolling. This would give u the optimum number of pages before drying up. I once opened both an HP and a Canon Cartridge 9after a lot of hardship) - u will be amazed what little amount of liquid ink the corps chooses to give 2 the consumers. Stick to the prominent brands - HP and CANON.

Go to a shop u trust - take a look at what they have or what they have in the mkt - then read reviews and finally decide.
