Thread: Steam finally coming to Linux

  1. #1

Default Steam finally coming to Linux

Yes, that's right....steam is coming to Linux.

Left 4 Dead 2 running natively on Linux.... No Wine library or anything else for "fake" support. This is on an Ubuntu 11.10 installation with the AMD Catalyst Linux driver.

When steam finally gets released for Linux, what does it mean for Linux users?

    - Huge library of steam games (over 150 AAA+ titles) to choose from, starting from Dota-2 to Call of Duty to Counter Strike, etc. obviously these are not free

    - Linux users will no longer need to bother with booting to Windows for gaming after a hard coding session

You can code just as well in Windows, the stereotypes are retarded.

Leaving that aside, good news -3-

Hopefully it'll work out a lot better than OSX and Steam.

the way is not very smooth, still a long way to go!! most of current gen gen games uses dx whereas no support of dx in linux. converting to opengl is no way possible. let's see what happens. but it is really neccessary to see a better alternative of dx. dx made everything easy for developers but we dont see the reflextion in games.
