Default Need help to select a GPU

My Current PC config is : Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz, Intel DG33, Gigabyte 4670 1GB, 4GB DDR2, Thermaltake 420W. Now I want to buy either GT550ti or HD 7770. Is there any chance that my current motherboard or processor may conflict with that GPU (GT550ti or HD 7770). One of my colleague said that after plugging HD 6950 he got a lot of BSOD ( 775 socket CPU ) then he changed to 1175 socket. Now its working fine for him.

6770 is superior to 550ti both in gaming performance and power efficiency.

There shouldn't be any conflict. Your friend's problem was due to other reasons, maybe faulty motherboard or outdated drivers or lousy psu or who knows what. You rig will run it.

no your cpu wont bottleneck your gpu.get the 7770 as it is better than the 550ti.

nothing will be conflicted but whatever you buy,it will be bottlenecked by the cpu in a good margin...

core2 architecture is already outdated for gaming. these will bottleneck any mid-range gpu more or less in modern dx11 titles. but his biggest drawback is the frequency of his e6550. 2.33ghz is nowhere near to the minimum recommended level for gaming. moreover with that intel mobo he won't be able to OC at any margin....

I heard the rumour that DG31/DG33 mobos can be unlocked to their OC ability by "Itegrator toolokit". You have to made a custom bios flash file and have to flash the bios with it..
Now I'm thinking for a test run.
