    Exclamation Banglagamer Mining Discussion

So, i was wondering, with BTC price now more valuable than gold at $1700-1800, why the miners of this forum are so silent?

To be precise, which coin you are mining right now? And at which pool?

BTC is now with custom ASIC aka custom chip designed to mine efficiently.

GPU mining is done for some new currencies. Erethreum and others iirc.

YSK: Bitcoin or any other crypto currency is actually completely illegal in Bangladesh. It's not a good idea to discuss about it in public forums anymore.

Couldn't find anything that shows this statement was changed later. And the wikipedia page about bitcoin legality still shows illegal in Bangladesh.

I researched a little bit after this post, I don't understand things well yet, But it seems mining is not much profitable yet. I mean if you invest a lot and build rig specifically for mining, then it might be profitable but considering the large investment, middle class people like me probably doesn't find interest. correct me if I am wrong.

I keep reading the same thing too. Not profitable at all now. In fact, you end up paying more in electricity bills just to get a decent amount. That makes me think it could be more profitable to just open a ''cha-er dokan"

Alas, no one of you has any idea about it. I wonder where are all the old miners like @taher thefurious and @SadmanBD

if your luck clicks, you can earn 50k-60k within a week. Ether miners, who mined with single 390/390x, are super rich now.

I myself earn ~20k in a month with one single 270X back in 2013. Dogecoin, Fluttercoin, ahh, good ol' times.

Well, with actual luck you can even hit a bitcoin block while mining solo with a Radeon HD5450. That's 32,000 USD.

The trick with crypto mining was and always will be to get on board with a coin early in it's life cycle, even with actual bitcoin. If you can correctly predict which one of the new coins is going to go big in next couple years, then the profit is yours. But with hundreds of new coins popping up, how would you predict it, that's the question.

I was very interested in mining bitcoins back in 2011, right when the FPGA miners were being phased out with ASIC miners. Back then, 1 BTC was 20-30 USD, hash rate was just shy of touching 1TH/s, and block rewards were 50 BTC. I spent a good amount of time studying everything, including the algorithms and codes. I was so interested that I got together some people to invest money to buy then top of the line ASIC miners. But I run the numbers multiple times, and with steady growth of the hashrate and the typical timeframe of ordering an ASIC and getting it delivered, the results were disappointing. Even at the rate BTC prices were increasing at that time, I'd need 4 years just to break even on the hardware cost, and then the profits would still be marginal. So, I killed the idea. And for next couple of years I was happy that my calculations were correct. Even the BTC price dropped and the Hashrate got stuck around 10TH/s as people were realizing that it is pointless. But then I think around in 2013 china happened and the price went through the roof. Had I been able to predict that, I'd be a rich man today.
