    Cool Binary Domain

PC release confirmed for Binary Domain

Sega’s announced that the recently released Binary Domain will also be getting a PC version soon.

The publisher cited fan demand for a PC version as being the reason for the release.

“As well as the excitement generated by Binary Domain in the console press we were seeing increasing numbers of players asking for a PC version,” said Sega marketing boss Gary Knight.

“So we listened and we delivered.”

Sega’s yet to reveal the exact release date. but said it’s coming out in April. The PC version will see both digital and retail releases.

Binary Domain released back in February 24 in the UK, and February 28 in the US for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

    Binary Domain PC Release Date

Sega has revealed plans to bring the action game to PC for download before the end of the month.

Binary Domain already saw a release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier this year, but Sega has now stated the game will be available to PC players on April 27.

Various preorder bonuses will be available through online retailers, but specific retailers are not cited. Among the preorder bonuses are bionic upgrades and weaponry for the game's main character, new multiplayer features including a playable ninja class, and a new multiplayer map.

To get an early sense of what the PC game might be like, you can read our review of the console version of Binary Domain.

As long as I get to blow ¤¤¤¤ up and run and gun at fast pace that takes skill and not "patience" like most modern day shooters require these days, count me in!

    Binary Domain PC Gameplay

    From Steam Forum:

    -but not the best either.

There are graphics options for those who want that stuff. Shadow detail, v-sync, SSAO, windowed or fullscreen. Not alot, but it's there. You can also rebind the keys.

The important thing for me is that it's not framerate locked. I was getting full 60 during the opening, with it dropping to the high 30s during combat. (GTS250 with max shadows) The main reason I wanted it on PC was because I didn't want the performance issues the console versions have.

The downside is the menus that you have to navigate using WASD, and the default M/K controls are weird (middle mouse is reload). I planned to play with the controller on the TV anyway, but M/Kers might want to rebind before they boot the game.

Where I think some people are crying over nothing is the textures. Unless it gets worse after the opening mission, the texture, console resolution or not, were fine. I've seen more blurry textures in more popular PC games.

I've seen worse ports, but it could be better.

Not trying to flame anyone, but it's a terrible port, imo. No FOV option and a locked FOV of what feels like 50 degrees horizontal at most. I find myself leaning toward my 24" screen in a useless attempt to see more. Run/Jump/Cover/Evade is all the same key - so don't try running next to something that can be used as cover - you'll take cover instead of running.

In the menus, the Interact/Use key (for gameplay) is the back key, and the Evade key is the 'enter' key. WTF?!?

No way to turn off mouse smoothing or acceleration. Moving my mouse quickly causes my character to turn very slowly. Moving my mouse slowly makes him turn very quickly.

It's like they signed off on this port on 'opposite day'.

No volume controls. Starting the config takes way too long, especially for such a simple/basic config screen. Heck, having to set the config outside the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Adjust mouse, start game, test, quit game, adjust mouse...ad infinitum.

At least it has a few decent graphics options for tuning and recognized 5 of my mouse buttons (that's pretty impressive, actually...considering how many PC titles only recognize 3).

I have no idea what SEGA's goal was in bringing this to PC, but it seems to have involved the minimum effort necessary...and it shows.

I played the demo last night and went to bed, no longer enthused about the game at all. It's installed now and I'm going to give it some time today, but I don't have high hopes at this point. :\

To all those truly enjoying the game - I envy you (a bit, at least).
