Default AMD Radeon HD 78x0 To Be Launched At CEBIT

The latest reports indicate that AMD will be releasing Pitcairn, the Radeon HD 7800 series GPUs, at CeBIT 2012. That means that the line-up of GCN based graphics cards will be complete some time between March 6 and March 10. Radeon HD 7850 and HD 7870 will replace Cayman, Radeon HD 6900 series GPUs.

The specs are almost exactly what we reported on February 1, with the biggest difference being the clock speed of HD 7850, increased to 900 MHz from the previously reported 825 MHz.

AMD Radeon HD 7870 will have 22 Compute Units, giving us a total of 1408 Stream Processors (the same as HD 6950) and 88 Texture Units. The GPU core will run at 950 MHz. There will be 24 color ROP units, generating 22.8 GPixels/s. 2 GB GDDR5 memory will run at 1375 MHz (5500 MHz effective), leading to a bandwidth of 156 GB/s.

Radeon HD 7850 will have 20 Compute Units, a total of 1280 Stream Processors and GPU core speed of 900 MHz. It will have the same 24 color ROP units as HD 7870, leading to 21.6 GPixels/s. A 900 MHz GPU Core, and 1250 MHz memory clock (5.0 GHz effective) complete the picture, with the later running 1 GB or 2 GB GDDR5 memory to give a bandwidth of 156.25 GB/s.

Radeon HD 7850 (1GB) is rumored to have a price of $139 at release, and the 2 GB model is rumored to have a price of $169. VR-Zone claim to have verified a price of $199 at release for Radeon HD 7870 (2 GB).

the prices what VRzone claimed as 'rumor' are totally fictitious. don't know what made them think 7850 to be $20 cheaper than 7770!!!..lol...7850 will be at least $249 at release......
