The problem is that running a game at 1920 x 1200 takes alot more horsepower so you might have to turn down the settings and/or the resolution on your games to attain higher frames per second. If you were to lower the resolution of a game on a 1080p monitor to say 1366 x 768 then it would be significantly more blurry than running 1366 x 768 on a native 1366 x 768 display. You'd have to turn on anti-aliasing (AA) to compensate for this and thus be using more GPU power than a native 1366 x 768 user.

The last benefit I have of 1080p monitors is that when you can play the game at native resolution, you almost assuredly will not need to use AA to make the game look better. I have heard back in the day of users running native resolution on lower resolution monitors but still desiring to use a little AA to make the game a little crisper. However, a negative for a 1080p user is that if you lowered your resolution then you'd have to use significantly more AA (8X - 16X) to make the image quality look the same as a user on the native lower resolution monitor running at say 4X AA. Lastly, it should be noted that reducing the resolution of a game on a 1080p monitor will still result in a playable image quality. Unless you've seen the game run at native resolution (on a 1080p or lower resolution monitor) then you might not even notice the extra blurriness.
