Camera within 50k
Our college is planning on buying a camera and the budget is around 30-50k (college fund, you know). After they talked to me for about 10 minutes about this what I have understood is that they want better image quality than point and shoot cameras, but not anything as advanced as DSLRs. They, however, did not mention anything about video quality so keep that out of consideration. Please note that the camera will most probably be operated by 3rd class employees (peon/orderly...) so don't expect much expertise. Just try to keep it within turn on => focus => shoot.
When I went to buy my D5100, I also asked for models in this range. But could not find any model other than Nikon P500 (~35k) and Canon Powershot G12 (~42k). I think I should throw them a few more choices. Ryan's Computer's product ebook doesn't help much, so I'm here seeking help again as it's impossible for me to go out and start looking for them (HSC preparatory test going on).
A very old model Sony DSC H50 with 15x optical zoom and effective 9 pixels is I am using now it's picture quality is amazing you will find. Many feature many problems in operating after DSC H50 Sony has introduced one more camera of same type HX100V which comes with 30x optical zoom and Panorama feature allows you to capture image of wide area. Sony has good lens on their camera to capture high quality image but one problem is flash, you can't plug in extra flash system with their camera.
Some more advance camera is in available in market they are packed with loads of feature like Nikon COOOLPIX P510 (42x optical zoom) and Nikon COOLPIX P500 (36x Optical zoom). Nikon is well known for DSLR camera but to be competitive in market this two new compact camera will surely catch your eye with design and light weight.
More optical zoom means you can capture image of far ahead without loosing picture quality without a single drop in pixels. So go visit market choose between Nikon P500 and Sony DSC H50.
I think you gave little to no attention to the opening post. Well, college employees hardly know about cameras, so the less the features, the better. Picture quality in "auto" is what counts here. And I CAN'T go to market, I just want a few more models to offer them, that's why I opened a thread here. Optical zoom doesn't matter, the camera will be used most probably within college campus only.
@eXsTatik ; @error ; @codename5302 ; @Hemlock guys I need your help again. Just read the OP carefully.

Reason: Quoted the OP highlighting important info
my opinion is go for canon or nikon p&s camera, i dont know which models are available in bangladesh. but any recent model with 14mp and 3/4x zoom with image stabilizer will be helpful. and these cameras are not very expensive as well. you can look into another camera from fuji. one of my friends use this and photos are quite good. even night photos are good enough.
also you can give a try to micro four third cameras some of which are also available within your budget
problem is if the camera is used by amateurs then threre is no point giving them expensive cameras.
That's EXACTLY my point, and I tried to tell them this thing over and over again. But they seem to be buying "picture quality" rather than features with money. And just don't worry about the upper point of the budget, they are willing to pay. And availability in Bangladesh is what I'm concerned about too, otherwise I just would have brought it from abroad if it was for me. The problem with that is, there will be no warranty in that case, and warranty is the first thing you'll want when you give something expensive to an amateur.

it seems they also want to show some "futani" rather than usability, go for micro four thirds. they will shoot it on "auto" with some "futani"
canon sx 210?
my best choice..tough don't know the current price but it should be well in 50k range...point and shoot..excellent stuff.
