Default Radeon HD 7850 and HD 7870 Leaked specifications

AMD is scheduled to release their mid range 7800 series gpu s this march. These graphics cards are based on the "Pitcairn" GPU. The leak also revealed that the 7850 will be released in two separate versions 1gb/2gb, whilst the 7870 will stick to only 2gb.

Specifications for each card can be found below.

Radeon HD 7870 (Rumored Price 300$)

    • 22 Graphics CoreNext Compute Units
    • 1408 stream processors
    • 88 TMUs
    • 24 ROPs
    • Memory bus of 256-bit
    • Memory size of 2GB GDDR5 memory
    • Clock speeds of 950 MHz core
    • Memory frequency of 1375 MHz (5.50 GHz effective)

Radeon HD 7850 (Rumored price 220$)

    • 20 Graphics CoreNext Compute Units
    • 1280 stream processors
    • 80 TMUs
    • 24 ROPs
    • Memory Bus of 256-bit
    • Memory size of 1 GB/2GB GDDR5 memory
    • Clock speeds of 900 MHz core
    • Memory frequency of 1250 MHz (5.00 GHz effective)

After the unsatisfactory performance the Cape Verde (7700 series) gave us, we can only hope that Pitcairn doesn't underperform. Note that these specs are not official, and may not prove to be accurate. But these are actually capable of giving you an idea of what you'll be dealing with this march.

7870 will be priced under 300 and there will be a 7890 with 6970 specs (1536) shaders which will be a tahiti LE core and should be faster than 6970 for 359

Now this will clarify why AMD applied that hideous naming scheme on their 6000 series cards.

Dude the naming scheme changed the 6870 was a a new series altogether. 6950/6970 was the replacement for 58xx and not 68xx

If you have this much trouble interpreting then look at it like this.
    The 6850 replaced the 5830.
    The 6870 replaced the 5850
And The 6950 replaced the 5870.
Now compare their prices, only then will you find out what remarkable effect the naming scheme had on these. And stop telling people to google stuff, when you are the one who clearly needs it.

Dude u cant compare the 6870 to the 5870 when it was never meant to be the replacement..Google that first...the 6870 replaces the 5850 and puts one over it and is only slightly slower than the 5870.....Use ur own advice for a change

I didn't say they are replacements, I said you need to look at it that way to understand the naming scheme. But I guess you are as dimwitted as you are.

To be noted: A superclocked 6850 can replace any overclocked 5850. Example: MSI 6850PE/OC beats GIGABYTE 5850OC in every games by marginal 3-4 fps. http://www.guru3d.com/article/msi-ra...ower-review/17
