Default Another Steam competitor. This time from Tencent

Back in January, a fleeting rumor about a possible Steam competitor from Amazon was posted here straight from the rumor mill. Now before it's materialization took place it looks like we have another competition on the horizon. This time from Chinese video game giant, Tencent.

Daniel Ahmed, analyst at Niko Partners twitter handle @ZH ugeEX posted a series of tweets about the matter.

Looks like Tencent will rebrand its 'Tencent Games Platform' to 'WeGame'. It's basically Tencent's version of Steam. pic.twitter.com/Rx7ndSXJVM

According to him the marketplace will not be bounded to China only where they already have supposed 200 million users but will be global.

So it seems it will support both Chinese and Global users. Allow developers and users to interact Support localisations One storefront pic.twitter.com/uwGTayzZN4

For those unaware, Tencent's Game Platform already has 200m users in China. (It's huge). Global expansion incoming! (Watch out Steam)

Tencent, founded in 1998 is the owner of MOBA giant League of Legends developer Riot Games and Supercell Oy of massively popular Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. It is said to be the world's fourth-largest internet company by revenue. So undoubtedly Tencent is not a light hitter.

Probably will be popular in Asia/SEA but won't be popular in the western world since people already have a huge library on steam and refuses to move to a new platform.

You think SteamStub, Origin and Uplay are DRMs?

All you need for the three are emulators if the game doesn't feature any other Anti Tampering protection. I kid you not.

The way I see it: These are how they follow

Origins: Mostly for EA's games and other third party sold for cheap.

Steam: The platform that is the penultimate of gaming social hub, forums, group members, game reviews etc. No DRM client service matches theirs

Uplay: Crap, just crap I treat it like bloatware.

GOG: No DRM, you can play games just redeem and downloaded from client. That's the way to play

Tencent: For those who believe cheap ¤¤¤ rip-off games that plays out as freemiums or pay-to-win stuff. Oh btw, you thought Nvidia's Telemetry was bad? Tencent has much worse case idea for tracking data inside your PC.

I just use Origin and Steam. They are simple enough.

Please, no more DRMs. Or atleast make a DRM that I dont have to keep open. It will automatically open [without delaying my game launch] once I click on a game and it will close when I close the game. That way I dont have to deal with these shit¤¤¤¤ drms.
