    Arrow v6.55 : New Map Reflections

    New map reflections

    DotA has taken a blow to the face the past few months with a number of critics pointing out its imperfections --- mainly the game's length. The competitive DotA community has always wanted that perfect map, one with all the necessary changes, one that you know will make DotA a better game both to watch and play.

    According to the majority of the community, that perfect map is here (6.55). Although it has not been put into league play yet, most competitive players have expressed that the map seems promising in every way.

    While the changes are drastic, they may have been the necessary steps to get DotA where we want it to be. We have comprised 10 questions about the new map to gather the opinions of several players!
    The questions asked:
    • How much have you played 6.55 and what was your initial reaction?
    • Do you think this map will eliminate the mass farming playstyle?
    • Do you think your team will draft differently right now? What sort of draft changes do you predict?
    • Which change did you like the most and why?
    • Which change do you dislike the most and why?
    • Did you think removing the crow's ability to place wards was a necessary change?
    • What are your thoughts on the aegis change? (Now it reincarnates you in the same spot, similar to leo's ult)
    • What are your thoughts on the BKB change? (Duration time changes after every use and caps at 5 seconds)
    • Do you think the new captains mode will alleviate the old problems of long drawn out hero drafts?
    • Do you want to see this map (after stabilized of course) used in league play?

    •How much have you played 6.55 and what was your initial reaction?

    Very little, but with my experience I can foresee how a lot of it will turn out. I tested it in Single Player, and I really loved some changes!

    •Do you think this map will eliminate the mass farming playstyle?

    I certainly hope so. It will need more aggressive plays, and one player farming rice and not showing up in battles will definitely spell the downfall orf his team!

    •Do you think your team will draft differently right now? What sort of draft changes do you predict?

    Of course! I'd definitely draft stronger innitiators and catching heroes! With the buff to the Blink Dagger, there will be a lot of ganking. Before, in 6.52e, there used to be a dedicated support, now I feel there needs to be a dedicated ganker, who'll gank 24/7. Also, I'd pick heroes which has potential to be effective with minimal farming, as I hope this map will get more gank based! The different gold distribution after hero/tower kills would I think reduce the need of rivce-farming at least a bit.

    •Which change did you like the most and why?

    The dagger change of course. Isn't it obvious? Second in line would be the whole innitiative to make the gold earning system faster!

    •Which change do you dislike the most and why?

    Don't particularly know!

    •Did you think removing the crow's ability to place wards was a necessary change?

    Of course, it was! Not only did it give a faster way to ensure that the "carry" kept on farming, it also reduced the chance of a lot of fights because heroes wouldn't go into enemy jungles. Instead they would just use the crow, with a finger resting above "C".

    •What are your thoughts on the aegis change? (Now it reincarnates you in the same spot, similar to leo's ult)[/B]

    I think a Leo with an Aegis would suck! Overall, an excellent change! No more Diving Aegis Suicides!

    •What are your thoughts on the BKB change? (Duration time changes after every use and caps at 5 seconds)

    I love it. It amazies me that very few people understand that it hasn't really taken away much of BKB's effectiveness. It just took away the Imbaness. You must understand that a hero at Level 13 can't even do in 10 seconds what a Level 25 hero with 5 big items can do in 5!

    •Do you think the new captains mode will alleviate the old problems of long drawn out hero drafts?

    Yes, if implemented in tournaments, this would be great. It would also measure the captain's ability to work in pressure and limited time.

    •Do you want to see this map (after stabilized of course) used in league play?

    HELL YEA!
