these psu calculators are one of the shitty stuffs around the net. nowdays almost all psu vendors have their own 'so-called' calculators to give a 'rough' idea about total or combined power consumption and specially for the noob buyers...
what this calculators do is far from ideal, they just add tdp's of given components*85%-90%(load)+50-100w(overhead)=required psu wattage(!)...lol
but no recommendation of +12v rails and other important stuffs. and its enough to mislead buyers in countries like bd where market is full of generic & low end psu's with poor +12v rail.
to get nearly accurate reading you need to use psu testers or kill-a-watt meter. it can be done by using multimeter too but process is a bit complex....

it's algorithm is not anything different from what i mentioned earlier. just different vendors count different headroom(generally 50-100w) that makes final result different from one to another. its not matter what make you satisfied or not...

As said by @@nonymous bhaiya, these PSU Calculators are utter BS. They just add up TDP at 90% load I believe which shouldn't be used to judge when buying a PSU. The 12V rails, ripple, voltage regulation, main unit is far more important to take notice, than just blindly buying a 500/600W unit. All of them uses the same way to give results when you jot down your components, and even lets you calculate for overclocked systems.

If you want a PSU Calculator, then stop using these, and use this instead:
    http://psucalc.net/

It's from the PSU Editor himself: Phaedrus @OCN

I'll trust the above calculator, than any other BS on the net.
