Fear, combat, exploration, and item management: these are the four pillars of survival horror, a genre that has never been more masterfully executed than in the gameplay of Resident Evil. The horror continues in the ground-breaking Resident Evil 7. Step into the new Isolated View and experience true survival horror in a world created by the all-new RE Engine.

RE7 is a First Person Survival Horror game. While not actually the first game in the series to take on this perspective, RE7 nonetheless represents a dramatic departure from all previous entries in the series. Rather than focus on action-oriented combat sequences, RE7 follows a formula most recently seen in the original Resident Evil Revelations: a slower-paced game with a balanced emphasis on combat, survival and exploration. For the first time since RE4, there is primarily only one protagonist and no partner accompanying him.

True to classic RE, you can explore environments to find items that may be crucial for your journey. You will also find firearms and melee weapons that will be used to fight off deadly creatures, and Green Herbs that can be used to restore health. Other gameplay elements from recent action-oriented RE titles return in RE7 with some modifications, such as selecting different weapons/items using the D-Pad.

RE7 is compatible with the PlayStation VR. As of launch, the other two platforms (XB1 and PC) are not yet compatible with VR and Capcom has not announced any plans to do so. VR allows the first person perspective to be experienced with greater immersion, although Capcom warns that because VR mode could be mentally and physically exhausting, certain players should test the mode out before diving into it completely.

PS4 Pro owners get an enhanced visual experience in the form of 4K resolution graphics, HDR support and a higher resolution when playing the game in VR. Xbox One S owners have access to HDR whereas original owners do not.

RE7 takes place in 2017, approximately 4 years after the events of Resident Evil 6, in the fictional city of Dulvey, Louisiana in the Southern United States. It features a new protagonist named Ethan Winters, a civilian who offers fewer combat skills than most previous Resident Evil main characters. Ethan is searching for his missing wife, Mia, which leads him to a derelict plantation mansion, home of the Baker family.

This game sucks. 60$ game that ends so quickly. Then they increase the contents with stupud DLCs. These DLCs should have been in $60 game laready. It's not like Witcher 3 or GTA V where the base game was big enough.

Hell, even Resident Evil 5 and 6 were bigger than this.

And RE7 is now first person game. I know many people will like it for FPS, but I kinda hate FPS. So I'm skipping it. Not gonna buy it unless its under $30.

The game is good though, but very short to justify the price for me.

You don't like the game, fine. Just don't let people know you have a crappy taste in games I guess

Did I offended you? If so, I'm sorry.

Anyway, it's ridiculous how Capcom actually already made the DLCs before releasing the game and then selling them for Extra money. It doesn't matter. But if the base game is that short, then meh..

Just because I hate FPS games, means I have a crappy taste in games?

This game was made to shine (or rather make you piss in yo pants) in VR.... so they had no choice but to make it an FPS

Exactly and the horror is something that's right on your face. It creates more tension and authenticity. Frankly any shoulder, isometric camera or third person horror games don't scare me much as much as it does seeing it from the eyes

But Resident evil was not a FPS game.

Anyway, I respect your opinion and I get it. But looks like RE7's not for me. And looks like future RE games will be in First Person (Except RE2 remake) camera. So RE is no more on my interest.

Well, many people left RE when capcom switched from static camera to over the shoulder cam. So yeah..

There's a possibility of 3rd Person camera Mod. Because someone on YouTube actually hacked the camera to death.

this game wouldn't have been this good if they made it on 3rd person platform. Indeed this game was short but it was full of intense and agitation. I don't think capcom would have done anything better than this and this game got very good reviews for a reason right ? it may vary on individuals opinion but this game wasn't that bad to hate at all

This is actually one the best Resident Evil games that they made. Everything was just perfect, it was disgusting, creepy and overall well made. VR is doing great things for horror games, I'm actually glad that they ditched the 3rd person shooter angle and swapped to this.
