Default Little Help on Buying a Headphone

I need to buy a new headphone. Something which I wouldn't have to change soon. I have onboard audio, and the jack detection is getting dead on it, and also old microATX mobo + Sapphire HD4830 makes it much difficult to install a decent sound card without messing up the cooling of the graphics card. So, I thought of buying gaming headsets with USB audio, like the Fatal1ty HS-1000 or Tactic3D Sigma or Megalodon. Then I thought, if I'm spending that amount of money, and if I'll hate gaming headphones if I try an audiophile one, why not get an audiophile one already. It is not that I'll not upgrade my mobo and get a decent sound card sometime in future, then I may have to regret buying a gaming headphone.

So, I'm now thinking about a Shure SRH440 or SRH750DJ. Which will be better? Please suggest any other headphone in this price range that may be better than these. I like deep bass, but I do not know if I'm a "bass head" because I haven't tried any high end headphone yet instead of Fatal1ty HS-800 and I liked the bass of that. My budget is about 9k, but I think I can push it up to 12k, but can not go higher. I can order from abroad, but I'm little impatient and want to get them from BD if possible. I'm currently at chittagong, I do not know any market here, If you know please suggest where can I look.

Also, If I buy a 750DJ, which I liked from all the reviews, would it be possible to use it with my onboard card for some time? I know with onboard card I will not get the full quality sound from the headphone, but will it be at least better than the HS-800+onboard?

Mentioning @EviL AnGeL , @Hemlock , @Mazhar and @Mahfuz for fast response. Thanks in advance.

Given that you've mentioned the term bass, U'll like the sonic output of the 750dj better. However, do not xpct the low-end to be that boomy and have as much presence as there is in the hs-800. The hs-800 is bloated and muddy but at the same time these gaming phones pack globs of bass, which isn 't as much in quantity in most studio monitors because an immense dose may and mostly does intrude with the rest of the spectrum drowning other frequencies. Having said that, the 750dj is the most bassy phone in Shure's line-up that packs a good low-end punch that is better defined than it is in the hs-800, although smaller in quantity it doesn't drown the rest of the spectrum and helps keep the Shure signature intact. It is just as good as any other can from Shure with the low-end taken better care of. The best from Shure to my ears. Why didn't i bring one home after demo'ing it? - it isnt perfectly circumaural, it sat on my ears. An absolute deal-breaker for me.

Went to chittagong branch of Orient today. They only had a SRH240 and nothing else. Is there anywhere else I can get a 750DJ?

Also, how is the 240? I haven't heard anything about it.

I believe you already know my recommendations. Moreover, Ridwan vai alias Hemlock(A bunch of thanks to him, I've been learning one or two things about these stuffs solely for him) also said the pros/cons regarding the 750DJ.
SRH440 is one hell of a HP in terms of mids clarity. The one and only shortcoming I found was the lack of proper bass response. Other than this, that HP is probably unbeatable within that price range. If you, however, able to plug that on a decent receiver, with some tiny tweaks the output would be substantially better over sound card with no built-in amp like Titanium.
The 750DJ, on the other hand, fills up this gap quite elegantly. As Ridwan vai mentioned, Shure designed this to provide good bass response but not to harm the rest of the spectrum with it. Keep in the mind, you'll need a good SC preferably a built-in amp with it to drive both of these to unleash those cans fully.
I'm not quite sure here how the on-board source would drive that since people usually don't buy this with an intention in their mind to plug that under on-board source. But given that, you've never happened to experience such high-end HPs before, you won't be very devastated with the performance comparing generic HPs. It ought to on par with the best generic HP you've ever experienced to the least. But I don't reckon, it'd be better from Fatality HS-800+on-board combo. In my personal experience, Fatality HS-800 performs with its 60% while driving through an on-board source. A Titanium or Xonar DX could greatly assist to fill up the rest only.

Got the 750DJ today. Orient's chittagong branche called me today and said they've brought one. Though I'm currently using it with my onboard Realtek, but still mids and highs sound parfect to me, maybe a little bit high, but it may be the realtek. But I'm missing the bass. Actually, my previous cosonic was a bass monstar, and didn't have any highs at all if compared with it. But the clarity of sound, even with my onboard SC is awesome. Like switching from DVD to BluRay. I'll have to get a decent SC soon. And I might have to delete all the mp3s and get FLACs instead.

Yours is holding your back too, you haven 't heard what it 's capable of yet. For some reason, the Shures, although very easy to drive cans, do not synergize very well with these sound cards alone and respond horribly to tweaking from the SC CP. They sound remarkable when i feed the SC 's output to my Deck 's receiver and plug it into them. Surprisingly, they sound amazing off a latest-gen iDevice un-amped.

Yap, they told me 12k flat first. But when I went to the shop today, they were saying the increase of USD price and they brought it just this week. Also, it is available at 149.99$ USD, and if I convert it with current prices, It comes around 12.65k.

I am also confused about getting a STX or getting a Titanium Fatality with an amp. I want to get some surround speakers also, and I really like some of the bells and whistles the Fatality Champion series offers. But I can't get any of them now, will have to wait for money.

My SC's output jack was set to "Headphones" in the jack re-tasking menu. I've put it into speakers, which boosts the bass but loses volume (I always put it in headphones because in speakers mode it boosted the bass too much, distorting the sound with my previous headphone), and now there is a lot of bass. Awesome, mindblowing, deep, heavy bass. Sometimes feels like the floor is actually shaking.

I've tried it with my Nokia 3110 Classic with 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and It runs enough loud and with more than enough bass (though the clarity of sound is limited by the phone hardware and also, the adapter I used is crappy and I think it messed up the stereo effect somehow). I think there should be no problem with the ipod nano at least in case of running.

get a FiiO e9. you cant go wrong.
In bd I dont think they have dedicated headphone amps available.

@Hemlock what sc are you using atm ? Btw are you using a digital out to your receivers digital in, if so then all the D/A conversion is bypassed to the receiver right ?
    FTW!!!!!!!!!!

Adding an amp to the line-up will yield better results than an STX alone.

get a FiiO e9. you cant go wrong.
In bd I dont think they have dedicated headphone amps available.

@Hemlock what sc are you using atm ? Btw are you using a digital out to your receivers digital in, if so then all the D/A conversion is bypassed to the receiver right ?
I feed a Titanium 's output into a receiver which has EQ and ample power at its 1/4" hp out port to drive most cans. Nope, im not feeding digital out to digital in. My receiver is a unit from an old deck is not capable of accepting digital external sources. Ill be getting a Denon AVR-1611 sometime this year, ill be doin D->A conversion in the receiver then.
